Fysikum at Stockholm University seeks Research Assistant in Quantum Communication

Fysikum is one of the larger institutions in Sweden within the Faculty of Science, with a broad basic research activity, both experimental and theoretical.

The department has about 250 employees, including 95 doctoral students, and has an international character. Fysikum is part of the AlbaNova University Center, which is a strong research center, and besides Fysikum, it also houses the Department of Astronomy, the physics departments at KTH, and the Nordic Institute for Theoretical Physics, Nordita. Job Responsibilities

Integrated photonics is a promising technology for future quantum science and quantum technology, offering exceptional advantages for applications in quantum computing, quantum communication, and quantum sensing. The purpose of this project is to develop quantum communication protocols, including design, implementation, testing, and analysis of quantum communication systems. The project takes place in the Quantum Information and Quantum Optics group at Stockholm University, led by Professor Mohamed Bourennane.

Qualifications

The candidate should have an education in physics, computer engineering, or equivalent. Knowledge of C, C++, Python, and VHDL is advantageous. Since the work environment is international, good communication skills in English are required. The work also requires good collaboration skills.

About the Employment

The position is part-time (50%) and is temporary for 6 months, during spring-summer 2025. Start date and extent will be determined in consultation with the project leader. Stockholm University applies individual salary setting. Start date by agreement.
