Then the role of Analytical Biochemist at AstraZeneca's new biological manufacturing facility may be for you!

Everything we do, we do to make people's lives better. We operate in over 100 countries worldwide and are one of Sweden's most important export companies.

Our new production unit in Södertälje, Sweden Biomanufacturing Center (SBC), is a central part of AstraZeneca's strategy for the production of biological medicines.

At SBC, we shape the medicine of the future by producing and delivering advanced, sustainable biological medicines while acting as a launch site for new products. Here, we thrive in a high-tech environment where we value collaboration, entrepreneurial spirit, and smart solutions. Your contribution makes a significant difference, positively impacting and driving your development and building your career.

We can now offer an exciting opportunity to become part of us at Sweden Biomanufacturing Center (SBC): We are looking for 4 Analytical Biochemists for the quality organization at SBC within quality control.

Your role:

You will work with analytical quality assurance according to current cGxP standards.

The role includes both sample handling and preparation of samples and reagents, as well as analyses, data review, and reporting of results. The controls are performed using various analytical techniques such as HPSEC, GC, gel electrophoresis, CE-SDS, cIEF, and protein concentration with UV/Vis. Device testing and compendial methods such as sub-visual particles, appearance, visible particles, and extractable volume are also performed in the laboratory. We also work on implementing new techniques at the site.

The role also includes a variety of non-routine tests including analytical method transfer (ATT) and analytical support to production primarily during process validations in connection with the launch of new products. This means you need to stay updated on technical developments, perform trend analyses, and provide support for functional and cross-functional investigations.

In addition to analytical work, maintenance of laboratory equipment and some administrative tasks are also included. You will handle a large number of samples from both manufacturing at SBC and from other sites, as well as stability studies. You will work in various teams both within the group and in different cross-functional teams, both locally and globally.

AstraZeneca continuously works with LEAN and continuous improvements aimed at enhancing and streamlining operations. This work is highly valued and you are expected to be involved.

We expect:

  • A scientific degree of at least 180 credits (120 points according to previous grading) in chemistry/biochemistry or equivalent
  • Practical experience in analytical chemistry, preferably biochemistry/analytical chemistry, especially in operations governed by Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP)
  • Very good ability to clearly communicate and express yourself verbally and in writing in both Swedish and English

It is advantageous if you have experience working with quality assurance in pharmaceutical or food manufacturing, or other GMP-controlled operations. Experience/knowledge in LEAN is also beneficial.

As a person, you are flexible in the face of changing conditions and have a structured working method. You have good collaboration and communication skills, as well as strong analytical abilities and an eye for detail. Taking great responsibility for your own deliveries while being a pronounced team player is a given for you.

With us, you will be part of a broad network and high-performing teams that, through support, trust, and respect, ensure that you thrive and succeed.
