Job Description

We are looking for a section manager for our environment section in Östergötland, based in Norrköping or Linköping.

Within the Environment business area, we work broadly within the service area of environment and sustainability. On behalf of our clients, we handle notification and permit matters, environmental impact assessments and descriptions, cultural heritage analyses and investigations within cultural environments, environmental and nature investigations, water and air investigations, contaminated areas, environmental technical soil investigations, environmental controls, risk assessments and remedial investigations, climate calculations, and sustainability assessments. Our clients are found in both the private as well as the municipal and governmental sectors. We also offer our environmental expertise to other business areas within AFRY.

In the Östergötland section, we currently have 14 competent environmental consultants in the areas of contaminated sites, risk analysis and environmental control, permits according to the Environmental Code, environmental impact assessments, natural environment and species protection, air quality and modeling of air pollutants, water activities, and more. Within the Environment business area, we have several technical forums where we develop each other and share knowledge and experience.

As a section manager with us, you will have a role with great variation, the opportunity for many contacts and client meetings, with the responsibility to achieve successful and sustainable business. You will be responsible for the entire section's operations, including goal and strategy work, profitability, marketing, quality, budget, personnel, competence development, and recruitment. You will report to the regional manager and participate in the regional management group. You are expected to work on assignments approximately 20–30% of the time. We also have access to experienced personnel in HR, finance, and law who can assist you in your role as a manager.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with a higher education degree in a relevant field (environment, ecology, nature, bio-geo) or equivalent education, preferably with good knowledge of our environmental legislation. For this role, we believe you have previous experience working as a consultant, in commercial operations, or in a government agency.

We place great emphasis on leadership and personnel work in this role and therefore consider some previous leadership experience a requirement. We are looking for a leader who, through an unpretentious, attentive, flexible, and inclusive approach, can continue to develop the section.

You need to be well acquainted with the issues of the technical field and have a strong interest in technology and community building. Our guiding principles are BRAVE, DEVOTED, TEAMPLAYERS – these qualities and characteristics are important to us for collaboration and cooperation, which we know from experience fosters the entire company and our clients.

You need to have a business-minded approach, which is fundamental for the role as you are responsible for the section's operations and finances. Developing business, working with bids, and conducting marketing activities are part of the role of section manager.

The real success factors for the role are your personal qualities. An important part of the position is to create good relationships, both with clients and colleagues. You have likely demonstrated good leadership in previous roles by engaging, inspiring, and motivating.

We also see that you have the leadership quality to take initiative and step forward when others step back. This, combined with your curiosity about environmental issues, creates a fantastic potential to solve problems and develop the workgroup.
