Communications Strategist for Campus Total Defense

The Swedish Defence University is an internationally renowned institution in defense, crisis management, and security. We offer a unique academic environment where civilian meets military. We educate civilian and military leaders, experts, and researchers who will analyze and manage today's and future crisis situations and security problems. The Swedish Defence University trains Sweden's officers and leads the academic development of the officer profession. We conduct research in law focusing on operational law and international law, defense systems, war science, leadership and management, military history, and political science.

The Communications Department works on behalf of the leadership of the Swedish Defence University to drive strategic communication and branding issues. Based on the university's vision and overall goals, the department is responsible for developing and implementing strategies, guidelines, and infrastructure in the communication area. The department provides advice to management and other leaders in management and internal communication, drives overarching branding issues, makes efforts to recruit students, spreads knowledge about the university's research, and is responsible for media relations. The department is part of the university administration.

About Campus Total Defense

Campus Total Defense is a national collaboration aimed at strengthening knowledge and competence in total defense through research and education. Through training, conferences, and collaboration between academia, authorities, and industry, we contribute to a more robust society.

About the Role

As a communications strategist, you play a key role for Campus Total Defense. You are responsible for communication and will both develop and implement communication efforts for Campus Total Defense. You work on behalf of the head of the program office but belong to the Swedish Defence University's communications department.

Your main tasks include:

  • Communications advisor to the head and steering group.
  • Responsible for external communication and visibility in various channels.
  • Responsible for internal communication with the universities and other organizations included in Campus Total Defense.
  • Plan, produce, and publish content on the web and social media.
  • Project manage events and conferences.
  • Coordinate communication efforts to strengthen the Campus Total Defense brand.
  • Create engagement and spread knowledge through digital and physical activities.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for someone who has:

  • At least five years of experience working as a communicator, preferably with a focus on external communication.
  • Experience in web editorial work, social media, and project management of events.
  • Very good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in Swedish and English.
  • Experience working with strategic communication.

Meritorious is experience in:

  • Work within the public sector, especially higher education institutions.
  • Work within public operations.

About the Employment

The employment is a special fixed-term employment (SÄVA) full-time for one year.

An employment at the Swedish Defence University may involve a security review according to the Security Protection Act (2018:585).

The employment may also involve military placement. If you are already military placed in your current position at an authority and your competence is needed in the Swedish Defence University's military organization, a negotiation will take place between the relevant authority and the Swedish Defence University regarding where you will be placed.
