Job Responsibilities
We are looking for a PhD candidate for the research project A Helping Paw? The Role of Service Dogs in Child Interviews with Particularly Vulnerable Victims, funded by the Crime Victim Fund. The project aims to increase understanding of the role of service dogs and their potential contributions to improving support for children and interviewers in child interviews.
The research you will conduct, within the framework of the research project, will focus on various questions regarding the use of service dogs in child interviews. The research will involve planning, conducting, and analyzing the outcomes of both qualitative and quantitative studies. You will also write scientific articles based on collected material and take courses as part of your doctoral education. The work requires good planning, analytical skills, independent work, as well as teamwork. It also requires good communication skills with children of various ages. For the work, the ability to communicate with both international researchers and various national legal actors is required. Therefore, you need to have good knowledge of both English and Swedish, in both spoken and written form. As a PhD candidate, you will be part of the research group Criminal, Legal, and Investigative Psychology (CLIP).
Doctoral education comprises four years of full-time studies and leads to a doctoral degree. As part of your doctoral employment, you may have departmental duties amounting to a maximum of 20% of full-time distributed throughout the entire education period. Departmental duties typically involve teaching at the undergraduate and advanced levels.
Eligibility
Basic eligibility for doctoral education is held by those who:
- have obtained a master's degree
- have completed course requirements of at least 240 higher education credits, of which 60 higher education credits at the advanced level, or otherwise acquired equivalent knowledge within or outside the country
Specific eligibility for doctoral education is held by those who:
- have completed courses totaling at least 90 higher education credits in psychology at the undergraduate level and
- at least 60 higher education credits at the advanced level in psychology, including courses of at least 15 higher education credits in scientific methods and a thesis of at least 15 higher education credits, or
- have acquired knowledge equivalent to the above requirements in other ways
Assessment Criteria
Selection among applicants who meet the requirements for basic and specific eligibility is based on the ability to benefit from doctoral education. Great importance is placed on the applicant's previous theses/exam projects, any previous research-related work experience, personal suitability, and other relevant qualifications.
Applicants should have an interest in forensic psychological research questions in general and child interview methodology in particular. Education or experience in research questions studied from a forensic psychological perspective is meritorious. Experience in conducting structured or semi-structured interviews with children individually and/or in groups is also meritorious. Applicants should have a high result and goal orientation, good collaboration skills, and good planning and initiative abilities. Experience in research projects, coding and analysis of qualitative and quantitative data, as well as writing scientific papers is meritorious. Good communication skills in English and Swedish, both spoken and written, are required.
