Kungälv is a small, charming town located about 20 km north of Gothenburg. Here you will find the city's offerings as well as proximity to nature and the sea. The city center features several beautiful parks and, of course, the historic Bohus Fortress.

THE SCHOOL

Montessoriskolan Älvkullen is located in the heart of Kungälv, halfway up Fontinberget, providing a lovely view over the town and Nordre Älv. This also means we are close to Fontin's sports center and nature area, which we regularly use for nature studies and outdoor days.

At the school, we have our own kitchen where food is prepared from scratch every day. Students eat in their respective classrooms to create a calm and harmonious meal. The school is characterized by a warm and homely atmosphere where everyone is seen. Montessoriskolan Älvkullen has about 140 students and 24 preschool children and is the workplace for 30 people.

JOB DESCRIPTION

We are now looking for a teacher for a permanent position at our secondary school to teach English and Spanish. Additional subjects may be relevant depending on the applicant's qualifications and the school's needs.

You will work together with 4-6 colleagues, where you collectively are responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating the work for the students in secondary school.

Your primary responsibilities include planning and teaching your subjects based on national goals and guidelines. Additionally, mentorship is included, and as part of the team, you will take joint responsibility for the secondary school at the school.

As a new teacher with us, you will be assigned a colleague who will have some extra time each week to support you in your work. This can involve anything from being a sounding board for professional and pedagogical questions to how the copier works.

The position entails 75 - 100% depending on which subject combinations and grade levels become relevant.

MONTESSORI

At Älvkullen, we work according to Maria Montessori's pedagogy. This means that the school uses specially designed Montessori materials, but of course also traditional teaching materials. We work to ensure that each child becomes as independent as possible based on their age and maturity. This means that all staff at the school actively work to "help children help themselves".

The goal is to maintain relatively small grade cohorts, which means that we have at most 18 students born in the same year. Teaching is conducted in mixed-age groups in preschool and in the lower grades, gradually transitioning to teaching aimed at a specific age group during lessons. The educators at the school work closely together across grade boundaries.

The school works to promote a good working environment where everyone gets a chance to speak. We also focus on maintaining a good value base where we respect each other.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone with a teaching degree focused on English and/or Spanish for grades 7-9. If you do not have qualifications in both subjects, you need to have good knowledge in the other subject.

You are a person who takes responsibility for your students' development and can meet their needs both individually and in groups based on individual needs.

You need to have a good ability to collaborate with colleagues, create good relationships with guardians, and keep the student in focus. Our relative small size requires a shared responsibility in the work team and faculty.

You need to have a good ability to document your work.

WORK EXPERIENCE

Teaching degree with certification focused on English and/or Spanish for grades 7-9. Work experience is an advantage. Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability.
