Stockholm – our capital city with millions of dreams, expectations, and ambitions. We work for everyone living here today and in the future. We are now looking for you who want to think big, new, and differently with us – for the people of Stockholm.

The Skärholmen district administration is one of Stockholm's 11 district administrations and encompasses the neighborhoods of Bredäng, Sätra, Skärholmen, and Vårberg. More than 1,000 employees work here for our 37,000 residents. We offer a municipal service that we are proud of, and we have a fantastic diversity. Welcome with your unique contribution!

Workplace Description

The Children and Youth Unit belongs to the department of social services and works with investigations and follow-ups of interventions for children and youth.

We work to ensure that all children and youth receiving social services have the same life opportunities as all other children and youth in society.

The unit currently consists of four investigation groups that handle cases for ages 0-20 years, as well as a reception. We distribute cases according to the Mölndal model, where one investigation group at a time receives cases to increase the opportunity for planning and predictability in the work. Each group also has a social worker with extended responsibility for practical guidance and support in daily work.

The unit has two unit managers, five group leaders, and a mentor to ensure high quality, lawful authority exercise, and a present leadership. We work with close management to enable support for you as a co-worker to learn all aspects of the work and develop in your service delivery.

Job Description

We are now looking for engaged and unpretentious social workers for the Children and Youth Unit who thrive in a dynamic environment where no day is the same!

As a social worker in the Children and Youth Unit, you are the vital link in the entire investigation process for children and youth living in vulnerable situations. The main task of the position is to investigate the child's or youth's social situation in a lawful manner, following reports of concern or applications. The job includes a significant amount of collaboration with other partners such as the police, field assistants, and schools, as well as making risk assessments, providing information, and consultation. You need to have a good ability to express yourself both verbally and in writing, and enjoy working with conversations and meetings with families, as well as documenting and compiling investigations.

We work according to BBIC and use various methods and conversation tools such as Signs of Safety and network maps, aiming to facilitate good meetings with youth and their families. We also actively work to make children and youth more involved in their investigations.

We Offer You

A developing job where you have the opportunity to work alongside engaged colleagues and accessible managers. External supervision and professional development. Flexible working hours as well as winter and summer working hours. The administration office is located at Skärholmen center with proximity to the subway and a shopping mall with a wide range of restaurants, cafes, and shopping.

Qualifications

A degree in social work is required for the position; otherwise, the following qualifications are meritorious:

  • Experience in authority exercise within social services, especially with children and youth
  • Documented knowledge of BBIC and Signs of Safety
  • Documented knowledge of EARL and/or SAVRY, as well as MI.
  • Very good communication skills, i.e., the ability to express yourself well in both speech and writing in Swedish.
  • Driving license B

Together, we work to develop our services, therefore we are looking for someone who is committed to children and youth and has excellent collaboration skills and enjoys new challenges to grow in your professional role.

You are stable and professional and can meet children, youth, and families in crisis. It is important that you are self-driven, structured, and flexible, and have the ability to make correct assessments and make well-motivated and lawful decisions, even in acute situations.

We will place great emphasis on personal qualities in the selection process. The City of Stockholm works with competence-based recruitment aimed at recognizing each person's competence and thereby counteracting discrimination.
