Make a Valuable Contribution as a Support Family

As a parent of a child with disabilities, sometimes you need respite, time for siblings, or time to rest.

As a support family, you welcome a child into your home, usually one weekend a month, providing care and security as they become part of your family life.

Who Can Become a Support Family?

A support family is a family that has the time, space, and commitment to welcome a child into their home. You can be married, cohabiting, or single. You can live in a house or an apartment, in the city or in the countryside, and you can have children or not. The main thing is that you or you all are stable and secure adults who want to make a long-term contribution to another family.

Current Assignment

We are currently looking for a support family for a 15-year-old girl who enjoys working with animals and is interested in interior design, society, and travel. She is a creative, engaged, and driven girl but needs support in social interactions with others and the opportunity to create positive social contacts and feel successful. The assignment is about one weekend a month based on an agreement with the family.

Support and Compensation

We provide ongoing support and information so that you can carry out your assignment effectively. You will receive compensation in the form of a fee and reimbursement based on SKR's recommendations.

Please be aware that this is not a paid job where you receive a salary for your contribution as a support family, but a compensated trust assignment.

How Does It Work?

Register your interest by attaching a letter where you tell us about yourself, and we will get back to you with more information. We will then meet and conduct a support family investigation, which includes an interview, home visit, and background checks from social and police registers for all adult family members. Once you are approved as a support family, you will meet the child and their family. If it feels good for everyone involved, plans will be made for an introduction. We will then follow up regularly and be available for advice and support when needed.
