Job Responsibilities

We are now looking for a counselor with a strong commitment to students' learning, health, and development for Malmö Neptunigymnasium. The counselor's mission is to assist the school with psychosocial competence at all organizational levels and to contribute to school development. The mission also includes working towards a well-functioning student health service that supports students' development towards the goals of education.

The main job responsibilities are to:

• Have conversations with individual students based on school-related issues
• Conduct occasional conversations for assessment and referral to other agencies
• Hold group conversations with students
• Guide and inform the school's staff on psychosocial matters
• Participate in the school's student health team and contribute with psychosocial expertise
• Engage in the school's systematic quality and development work
• Work on students' working environment, e.g., the school's core values
• Collaborate with guardians and school staff
• Map and plan interventions and actions together with children/youth, families, student health teams, and other authorities
• Initiate and work preventively with attendance at both individual and group levels, both outside and inside classrooms
• Report to CSN in collaboration with the school administrator
• Conduct social mapping
• Contribute knowledge to teaching, e.g., ANDT
• Handle study financial issues
• Supervise social work candidates
• Document in the counselor's record in Prorenata

Qualifications

Requirements:

• Degree in social work (210 credits)
• Several years of experience in social work focused on children and youth
• Experience using digital tools for communication and pedagogy
• Very good Swedish in speech and writing

Desirable:

• Training in Motivational Interviewing (MI)
• Previous experience as a school counselor
• Good insight into governing documents for upper secondary school
• Good experience collaborating with other authorities and participating in various networks

The work requires that you are secure in your professional role, can work independently, are proactive, and have a good ability to see opportunities in various situations. As a person, you have a good demeanor and a strong ability to plan and prioritize your work. You have good collaboration skills and an interest in working together in a team with different professional categories. Your approach is relational, salutogenic, and focused on health-promoting and preventive work. You are flexible, attentive, and have an easy time building trust and good relationships with students, guardians, colleagues, and external partners.

The position includes:

• Profession-specific introduction
• Regular network meetings for collegial learning, experience exchange, training, and information
• Participation in profession-specific quality and development work
• Ongoing profession-specific support from the coordinated counselor

Regular external supervision is offered for school counselors.

About the Workplace

Malmö Neptunigymnasium is a new upper secondary school that offers you a close connection to working life. The school offers four programs: the health and care program, the social sciences program, the natural sciences program, and introductory programs, all leading to higher education eligibility. We have workplace-based learning in all national programs, at least one week per academic year. This makes our education something truly special. At the start of the school year in autumn 2024, the number of students is approximately 500, and we foresee that this number will double in the long run.
