The Child and Youth Administration is responsible for Halmstad's municipal preschools, primary schools, adapted primary schools, after-school care, and cultural schools. Approximately 16,000 children attend one of our facilities every day.

Kärlekens Adapted School is a 4-9 school with 28 students, located in the Kärleken district just north of central Halmstad. Kärlekens Adapted School started in the autumn of 2022 and is a growing operation.

JOB DESCRIPTION

To thrive in the role of special educator with us, you need to have clear ideas about how students can optimize their development and learning. The mission involves working proactively and purposefully, together with the educational teams, to create good teaching and learning environments based on our governing documents.

As a special educator, you play an important role in the school's student health team, collaborating with principals, educators, school nurses, and counselors. You will also cooperate with external and internal contacts. In your work, you will draw on both research and proven experience. We appreciate a forward-thinking attitude regarding development and systematic quality work.

Your main tasks will include:

  • Providing special educational expertise as support in the pedagogical work and in student health efforts.
  • Taking overall responsibility for the process concerning extra adaptations, special support, and action plans, at the organizational, group, and individual levels.
  • Identifying, analyzing, and participating in preventive work and in efforts to remove obstacles and difficulties in various learning environments.
  • Conducting pedagogical investigations and analyzing difficulties at the organizational, group, and individual levels.
  • Designing and participating in the implementation of action plans in collaboration with relevant parties. Applying knowledge of neuropsychiatric difficulties in various learning environments.
  • Being a qualified conversation partner and advisor in pedagogical matters for principals, colleagues, parents, and other stakeholders.
  • Following up and evaluating as well as supporting the development of pedagogical work with the goal of meeting the needs of all students.

QUALIFICATIONS

Qualified special educator/special teacher. Experience in adapted primary school is an advantage.

We are looking for a colleague who has the ability to lead and drive work forward. You are communicative, collaborative, and see the team and other partners as an asset. You have analytical skills and extensive experience in problem-solving. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

You do this by proving your citizenship in the EU/EES or Switzerland through a passport, national ID card, or personal certificate along with an identity document. If you cannot do this, you need to present a work permit or show that you are exempt from the requirement for a work permit.

If you are offered employment within the Child and Youth Administration, you are required to present a clean extract from the Police Criminal Record for work within schools/preschools. The extract is free of charge and takes about 2-3 weeks for the police to process. Therefore, order it in good time!
