IF Metall is now seeking a local ombudsman for division 12, Uppland. About the position

In the role of local ombudsman, you will collaborate with other ombudsmen and administrators to carry out tasks related to union activities. Your main tasks will mainly consist of:

  • Providing labor law advice and representing members in negotiations and disputes
  • Recruiting members and forming clubs
  • Supporting and strengthening the organization
  • Creating engagement for membership and union values

In this role, you will independently handle negotiations and member matters and provide ongoing support to elected representatives and members. You will report to the personnel responsible ombudsman. The start date will be agreed upon, and salary and employment conditions are according to the agreement for local ombudsmen.

Who are you?

We are looking for someone with experience in union work and good knowledge of labor law. The role requires negotiation experience, and it is preferable that you have worked with membership recruitment or organizing. Suitable educational background may include labor law education combined with training in negotiation and/or organizing. Previous experience as an ombudsman or in collective bargaining is an advantage. You express yourself well in both spoken and written Swedish and should have a good command of spoken English; knowledge of additional languages is a plus. You are comfortable using IT tools to support your work.

To succeed in this role, you must be able to build good relationships, have a structured working method, and be a good team player. You are communicative, can adapt to changes, and maintain calm even in pressured situations. To thrive in this role, you should be interested in strategic issues and enjoy problem-solving. Since travel is part of the job, a B driver's license is required. Our members are located in the municipalities of Enköping, Heby, Håbo, Knivsta, Tierp, Uppsala, Älvkarleby, and Östhammar. We work from our offices in Uppsala.
