Strategic Planning
Do you want to work with community planning in a municipality with a clear goal of being nationally leading in innovative and sustainable urban and rural development? We are looking for someone who wants to contribute to and develop their skills in strategic community planning with a focus on water and natural environments. Does this sound interesting and fit you? Welcome with your application!
The position is located in the strategic planning department at the Urban Planning Administration. We are about 20 experienced strategic community planners in the department. We are responsible for the municipality's overall strategy for how land and water areas and the built environment should be used, developed, and preserved sustainably – in the city, in rural areas, and in urban settlements.
In line with high political goals for climate neutrality by 2030 and climate positivity by 2050, and based on the entire administration's and the rest of the municipal group's starting points and needs, we develop, implement, and follow up on a strategic sustainable physical community planning. This aims to create long-term development for Uppsala that considers social, economic, and ecological perspectives. This is done, among other things, through the development of comprehensive plans, programs, and action plans for sustainable physical community planning.
Your Mission
You will primarily work with water management and strategic planning of municipal water resources within the comprehensive planning. The work with water management includes driving and coordinating the municipality's work on groundwater and surface water to achieve environmental quality standards and to develop the role of water in the city and landscape for recreation, biodiversity, and climate adaptation.
Your tasks also include issues related to climate adaptation and natural environments and responding to consultations in the water and natural environment area. In the work, we collaborate in networks within the municipality, in the region, nationally, as well as with various research environments and citizens to find future solutions. The role also includes oral presentations and case preparation for politics.
Your Background
We are looking for someone with a degree at the university or college level in natural sciences, urban planning, landscape architecture, or equivalent that is deemed relevant for the position by the employer. You have experience in water management work in some form and related legislation. Experience in municipal work or other work in the public sector is considered an advantage. We also appreciate experience in climate adaptation issues, work with comprehensive plans or green-blue structure planning, as well as innovative work or connections to research. The work requires good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written, and it is an advantage if you have good knowledge of GIS.
As a person, you are a good analyst who is good at seeing connections and solving complex issues and problems. You are creative and often come up with ideas and new approaches to work-related issues. Furthermore, you are someone who collaborates well and relates to others in a responsive and smooth manner. The job suits you if you are strategic, think comprehensively, and can see the long-term consequences of your decisions.
