We are looking for a Community Planner

We are looking for a community planner for our joint environmental and building department for Berg and Härjedalen municipalities. We are looking for someone who wants to help enable the development of our municipalities with several new schools, living environments, urban development, and ski facilities. You will be part of the planning, measurement, and GIS unit with 8 employees and a planning manager. The department has assignments within comprehensive planning and detailed planning, as well as measurement and GIS operations. The joint environmental and building department for Berg and Härjedalen municipalities has several offices throughout the municipalities. The location for this position is Sveg, and the possibility of remote work for a certain number of days a week can be discussed.

Job Responsibilities

As a community planner with us, you will primarily work with comprehensive planning. Both municipalities have adopted planning strategies, and both comprehensive plans are under revision with a planned adoption in 2026. The job responsibilities are based on collaboration and dialogue with other professional groups, as well as communicating with residents, politicians, and authorities. You will investigate and produce documents within comprehensive planning, where you will also be responsible for driving the process according to budget and timeline. The focus of assignments varies as comprehensive planning covers many different areas; you will work with housing development, wind power planning, and cultural environments, among other things. Collaboration is central to us. There are two community planners driving the comprehensive planning, and you could become one of them.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with a college or university degree in community planning, or equivalent education or experience that the employer assesses to be comparable and relevant for this position. Several years of experience in physical planning is a requirement for this position, and previous experience focusing on comprehensive planning is an advantage. You have a few years of experience in project management, as well as handling geographic information and balancing different interests. It is positive if you have an overall understanding of the community building process in rural and countryside municipalities. Good knowledge of the Planning and Building Act and the Environmental Code is also a requirement, as well as good knowledge of the Swedish language (both spoken and written). A driver's license for a passenger car (B license) is also a requirement. Berg and Härjedalen are Sami administrative municipalities, and we consider it an advantage if you have knowledge of the South Sami language and culture.

Personal Qualities

To thrive with us, you need to be proactive and solution-oriented. It is important that you can structure and prioritize your work both independently and together with your colleague, as the work takes place in several parallel processes. To fit the role, you also need to be communicative and unpretentious. The ability to collaborate is central, and you need to enjoy working together in a team, as well as engaging in dialogues with both citizens, developers, and politicians.

We Offer

We offer an inspiring environment where you will work closely with colleagues, service providers, and politicians in an expansive mountain environment.

There is an opportunity for some remote work by agreement, and vacation exchange. We have a benefits portal with a wide range of offers, an annual wellness allowance, and the possibility of wellness hours.

Selection and invitation to interviews will take place continuously during the advertising period. Start date according to agreement.

The location for this position is in Sveg, Härjedalen Municipality, and your formal employer will be Berg Municipality.

Warm welcome with your application to us at the Environmental and Building Department in Berg and Härjedalen!
