Investment Leader/Project Economist at Fortifikationsverket
Fortifikationsverket is seeking an investment leader/project economist for a newly established project unit in Östersund. As an investment leader/project economist in the project department, you will work with financial management, monitoring, and reporting of our construction projects. You will be part of a unit consisting of a unit manager, 8-15 project managers, and yourself as the investment leader. You will form a tight team where you, as the investment leader/project economist, ensure that the project managers are on track regarding time, cost, and adhere to the agreements we have with our clients. Fortifikationsverket owns, develops, and manages properties for total defense. Our main mission is to contribute to increased defense capability – for a safe and free Sweden. The project department has an important and responsible mission: to provide functional and sustainable premises and fortifications that meet our clients' growing needs.
What does an investment leader do at Fortifikationsverket?
The project unit in Östersund is now being established and will be responsible for the implementation of construction and civil engineering projects with project managers who lead and coordinate the work in the construction process from early stages to handover to management and clients.
As an investment leader/project economist, you will have an important role in your project unit and will work closely with the unit manager.
- Planning and reporting.
- Reviewing documentation for investment decisions and for the early stages of investment projects.
- Leading the development and compilation of forecasts within the dedicated unit.
- Leading the budget and forecasting work of projects in collaboration with project managers.
- Ensuring that processes, common working methods, and routines within the unit are followed.
When all recruitments are complete, the project department will have 15 investment leaders employed, of which division north will have 4. This means that you will have close collaboration and exchange of experiences with other investment leaders within both division north and the entire project department. The role involves a lot of collaboration with the unit manager within your unit, project managers, and the divisional controller within your division as well as the controllers employed within the staff.
What do you offer us?
We are looking for someone who has:
- University or college education or high school education with complementary appropriate further education. The focus of your education is in economics, property management, or construction.
- Several years of experience with budgeting, investigations, and reporting, primarily related to projects in construction and management.
- Documented experience working with IT system support.
As you will be working with coordination, follow-up, and analysis, it is required that you have good administrative skills and good knowledge of Swedish. Since the role may involve travel, a class B driver's license is a requirement.
It is advantageous if you have:
- Experience with Fortifikationsverket's operations, primarily in construction and management.
- Worked in a government agency or public sector.
- Knowledge of the Armed Forces' operations.
- Knowledge of property and construction law.

The position is a permanent employment. Place of employment is Östersund. Swedish citizenship is a requirement, as employment at Fortifikationsverket is security classified.
