Statistician at the Public Health Agency of Sweden

What will you work on?

As a statistician, you will work across government agencies providing statistical methodological support.

Your main tasks will include:

  • Selecting appropriate methods regarding survey design, weight calculation, and estimation, which are crucial for our projects to achieve their goals.
  • Planning survey studies to ensure they are conducted in a structured and efficient manner.
  • Conducting various statistical analyses.
  • Managing unit administration and participating in meetings.

As a statistician, you will also have other responsibilities as an investigator at the agency.

Who are we looking for?

Requirements for the position:

  • University degree in statistics or mathematical statistics.
  • At least one year of experience in statistical work involving survey design, weight calculation, and estimation.

In addition, we consider the following competencies, abilities, and experiences important for you to thrive with us:

Great emphasis is placed on:

  • Good knowledge of methods for conducting survey studies.
  • Experience working with official statistics.
  • Experience with independent programming in R and/or SAS.
  • Good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written.
  • Personal qualities such as good collaboration skills, being responsible, and having strong analytical abilities. You have a holistic perspective and a good approach.

Significant emphasis is placed on:

  • Experience from working in a government agency.
  • Experience in statistical analysis work in one or more of the following areas:
    • Estimation from probability samples.
    • Systematic quality work.
    • Epidemiology or public health.

What does the unit do?

The analysis unit works closely with data on analyses and forecasts for a more effective public health effort. The unit is responsible for statistics, modeling, survey construction, and health economics, as well as methodological development within this area. The unit provides support in planning and executing statistics and analysis projects.

About the Employment

You will be employed as an investigator based at our office in Solna or Östersund. The position is a full-time temporary contract until 2025-09-26. Start date as soon as possible by agreement.

As an employee of the Public Health Agency of Sweden, you may be subject to military placement. Some positions are classified in security class where Swedish citizenship may be a requirement. A security review will then be conducted in accordance with the Security Protection Act (2018:585).

At the agency, there may be an opportunity to enter into an agreement for remote work of up to 40 percent of your working time.
