We at the Environmental Administration are now seeking experienced and proactive Food Inspectors for the Food Division – for permanent employment.

The Environmental Administration monitors the indoor and outdoor environment in Stockholm and works to ensure that everyone in Stockholm lives in a healthy and safe environment now and in the future. The administration's areas of work are very varied, ranging from indoor environments and food hygiene to traffic noise, water quality, and biodiversity. The Food Control Division is organized into four units and consists of approximately 60 employees working with food and drinking water control within the City of Stockholm. Here, you are offered a workplace with broad expert knowledge, good community spirit, and colleagues of varying ages.
The Environmental Administration is centrally located on Kungsholmen in bright and fresh premises, just a few minutes' walk from the Central Station.

Your role
As a Food Inspector, you have a varied daily routine where you monitor food businesses registered in the municipality, such as food stores, restaurants, school kitchens, and food industries. Our mission is to ensure that these businesses comply with the requirements of food legislation and produce safe food. If we find deficiencies, we, as an authority, issue requirements for these to be remedied. We also handle incoming complaints regarding food handling, investigate suspected food poisoning cases, and examine suspected food fraud. The work includes answering questions from the public and providing advice to business operators.

Your competence and experience
As a Food Inspector, we are looking for you who are structured, communicative, and professional. You are proactive and have the ability to independently identify the initiatives required to ensure that tasks and projects are carried out correctly and effectively within the scope of the assignment. We value your ability to work systematically, as well as your good judgment, which enables you to make independent and wise decisions. A service-oriented approach is second nature to you, and you easily adapt your communication based on the recipient's needs. You easily create and maintain professional relationships, are receptive, and treat both business owners and colleagues with respect and engagement. We work closely together and see collaboration as a key success factor. Therefore, we appreciate that you share your knowledge and experiences, contribute to open knowledge exchange, and see the value in supporting colleagues in their daily work.
We are looking for someone who has:
- Relevant university education as a Food Inspector, Food Agronomist, Environmental and Health Protection Inspector, or other education that the employer deems equivalent.
- Several years of current experience in regulatory enforcement within the food sector.
- Current experience in food control.
- Very good ability to express yourself in Swedish, both orally and in writing.
It is meritorious if you have experience in:
- Investigating suspected food poisoning and complaints.
- Investigating fraud cases.
- Handling dietary supplement control.
- Handling RASFF cases.
