Do you want to contribute to a good living environment for those who live, work, and visit in Upplands-Bro Municipality? We are looking for an Environmental and Health Protection Inspector for our environmental unit.

The Environmental Unit is part of the Community Planning Department and works to protect human health and the environment. Here, you will work with supervision, examination, and advice according to the Environmental Code.

Job Responsibilities

The position is primarily focused on health protection, where approximately 75 percent of the tasks relate to health protection and approximately 25 percent to environmental protection.

Within health protection, you will mainly work with supervision of preschools, primary schools, upper secondary schools, care homes, nursing homes, swimming pools, and beaches. You will also work with radon issues and handle complaints regarding noise, odor, dampness, mold, ventilation, and indoor temperature.

The work also includes handling notifications regarding swimming pools and hygienic businesses where piercing or cutting tools are used.

Within environmental protection, you will mainly work with supervision of vehicle washes and auto repair shops. You will also handle notifications regarding heat pumps, composting, and similar matters.

The work involves planning and conducting inspections, writing decisions and inspection reports, and following up that requirements and decisions are followed. You will also provide information and guidance to business operators and the public, prepare statements and remiss responses, and present cases to the Building and Environment Committee.

You will also participate in joint supervision projects and contribute to developing the unit's working methods. The tasks may change based on the needs of the operations.

We are looking for someone who has

  • Relevant education as an Environmental and Health Protection Inspector or other natural science or technical education that the employer deems relevant.
  • Knowledge of the Environmental Code and administrative law, as well as good ability to express yourself in Swedish, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to plan and drive your work independently.
  • Category B driver's license.

Experience of supervision and processing according to the Environmental Code is meritorious. It is also meritorious if you have worked with health protection, in a municipality, or in the case management system Castor.

About the Position

The position is a permanent employment. Probation may be applied. Start date is by agreement.
