About Us
The Department of Health Sciences is now recruiting a student employee. The purpose of a student employee position is to create conditions for combining work and studies, where the tasks are connected to ongoing studies. Such a connection helps provide you as a student with practical work experience, which in turn facilitates the transition between studies and professional life, while also bringing current knowledge to the involved operations.
Your Role
We are looking for a student employee to assist our research team at the University of Skövde with the implementation of clinical nutrition studies. We are looking for you who have practical experience with randomized clinical trials (RCT) and wish to deepen your understanding of the interplay between diet, mental health, and microbiota.
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Participate in the implementation of clinical studies, including patient recruitment and collection of anthropometric data.
- Be responsible for the practical handling of fecal samples for DNA extraction, including careful sample preparation and optimization of laboratory workflows.
- Perform 16S rRNA amplicon library preparation and sequencing using Oxford Nanopore Technologies (ONT).
- Process sequencing data in a Linux environment, focusing on Dorado for basecalling and Minimap2 for sequence alignment.
- Conduct introductory meetings and perform qualitative interviews in Swedish and English.
Additional tasks may be included in the position.
We are looking for you who:
- are currently enrolled in full-time studies in a field relevant to the position at the university level
- have completed approved studies equivalent to at least 60 higher education credits
- have not started a doctoral education
- have documented good teamwork skills
- have documented good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish and English.
During the employment, we will also value:

- Documented good ability to use relevant digital tools and platforms.
- Good knowledge of protocols and procedures related to our MIND-GUT project.

Type of Employment: This is a fixed-term employment from September 1 to December 31, 2026, covering 20% according to the student employee agreement.
