Regional Laboratory Medicine belongs to Sahlgrenska University Hospital, Area 4, and has a clear coordination mandate for the entire Region of Västra Götaland. The organization consists of the laboratory medicine operations at Södra Älvsborg Hospital, Sahlgrenska University Hospital, Hospitals in the West, and NU Hospital Group.

Organization Description

We are looking for two employees who want to work with us within Pathology Laboratories 2.

The Pathology Laboratory within Clinical Pathology at Sahlgrenska University Hospital is an organization in change, with a new laboratory information system coming in 2026, and development with a major focus on digitalization within the laboratory and diagnostics.

The laboratory employs approximately 90 people, mainly biomedical scientists and biologists, making it the largest pathology laboratory in the country. At the laboratory, cell and tissue samples are examined for the presence of pathological changes. This is primarily done using light microscopy, and the pathology laboratories process the tissue samples prior to this examination.

Job Description

At Pathology Laboratories, we work in teams and collaborate with other professional categories such as laboratory technicians, laboratory assistants, nursing assistants, and doctors. The position involves, among other things, assisting with dissection, independent dissection, frozen sectioning, paraffin embedding, microtomy, scanning, and image review, as well as immunohistochemical and histological staining. Handling of urgent samples also occurs. We are a pleasant workplace with competent colleagues where we have opportunities for competence development based on the organization's needs. The positions involve placement in the skin/head, neck, and thorax sections.

About You

The position requires that you are a licensed biomedical scientist. Experience with tissue dissection and work in a histopathology laboratory is meritorious.

To succeed in the role, we see that you have the desire to contribute to the patient's best interests and to a good working environment. You have good teamwork skills, a positive attitude, and are flexible in your work. You need to have good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written, as well as good computer skills. We are looking for a positive person who is solution-oriented, meticulous, and structured, with good communication and teamwork skills, and who enjoys working in a team.
