VO3 consists of operating units, day surgery, and Postop in Skövde, Falköping, and Lidköping; intensive care and intermediate care in Skövde; and a sterile technology unit in Skövde. The department also includes a medical group of anesthesiologists and specialist trainees working across the entire business area.

ICU, Intermediate Care, Postop

Do you want to help develop future care within ICU, Intermediate Care, and Postop, and contribute to close leadership in everyday operations?

Skaraborg Hospital is now seeking a committed and development-oriented Section Manager for ICU/Intermediate Care/Postop. In this role, you serve as a close support to the Unit Manager, playing a vital leadership and coordinating function in daily work without having formal managerial responsibility. Here, you will have the opportunity to contribute to quality, working environment, and cross-professional collaboration alongside a competent team in state-of-the-art facilities.

Recently, the unit has adopted a new management structure as part of a change and development initiative. The structure now consists of two Unit Managers sharing leadership for the intensive care, intermediate care, and Postop units. Section Managers provide support. The nursing staff includes intensive care nurses, general nurses, and nursing assistants. Care administrative secretaries are linked to the two Unit Managers, and designated unit-responsible physicians hold medical leadership responsibility.

Responsibilities

As a Section Manager, you are a close support to the Unit Manager and play a key role in the daily management of intensive care, intermediate care, and Postop. You coordinate and lead the ongoing work, create structure in daily routines, and contribute to achieving set goals.

The role includes staffing planning, redistribution of personnel and tasks, support to the work group, and handling internal information. You also participate in onboarding, competence development, workplace meetings, and improvement work within quality, patient safety, and the working environment. You report to the Unit Manager, who retains formal responsibility for operations, economy, personnel, and the working environment.

Qualifications

We are looking for you with a healthcare background that the employer deems relevant. You have an interest in leadership and wish to contribute to the development of intensive care, intermediate care, and postoperative care. Experience in the field, leadership, improvement work, staffing, onboarding, competence development, or working environment issues is advantageous.

To thrive in this role, you need to be secure, clear, and collaborative. We are looking for someone who:

  • Leads and coordinates daily work in a structured manner
  • Is loyal to the unit's mission, decisions, and goals
  • Is a secure role model with good self-awareness
  • Is receptive, transparent, and fosters participation
  • Communicates clearly and professionally
  • Has good digital competence

Personal suitability is given great weight.

Other Information

The position is based on 100% employment. You will primarily work daytime hours, but evening and weekend shifts may occur.

Upon employment, the employer requests a certificate of good conduct (extract from the misprision and criminal record).
