Södra Älvsborgs Rescue Service Association (SÄRF) is a municipal association that organizes and is responsible for the rescue service in six municipalities: Bollebygd, Borås, Mark, Svenljunga, Tranemo, and Ulricehamn. We have approximately 500 employees, two full-time stations located in Borås and Skene, and are among the largest rescue service associations in the country in terms of Rescue Service Personnel on Call (part-time firefighters). The main office is located in Borås, the association's training field is at Guttasjön, and there are a total of 24 fire stations located in all municipalities.
We are looking for a communicator who keeps a cool head when things get hot
In the event of an accident, the rescue service responds, but much of our work involves prevention, information, and creating security before anything happens. We are now looking for a communicator who wants to strengthen SÄRF's communication – in everyday life and when it really matters.
At Södra Älvsborgs Rescue Service Association, we are looking for an engaged and driven employee who wants to take a key role in creating clear, relevant, and trust-building communication, both internally and externally. With us, you become part of a workplace with strong commitment and a clear purpose. As part of the role, there is a central administrative position as the association secretary.
About the assignment
You will be the classic hub in the network, working closely with both management and the association board, and responsible for planning, coordinating, and quality-assuring the work before and after meetings. The role gives you a unique insight into the organization's strategic work and the opportunity to contribute to our continued development.
In the role, you work broadly with communication, both strategically and operationally, and together with your communication colleague, you are responsible for implementing and developing the association's communication work. The position suits you if you thrive in a varied role where coordination, structure, and flexibility go hand in hand. You like to switch between long-term planning and quick actions when the situation requires it.
Your responsibilities
- Plan, produce, and publish content for internal and external target groups.
- Plan and conduct smaller as well as larger events.
- Work with web, intranet, social media, and other communication platforms.
- Contribute to the development of our internal communication and our employer brand.
- Provide communication support to managers and employees, in everyday life as well as in crises.
- Administer, plan, and coordinate the work before and after political meetings.
- Participate in and develop the association's work with crisis communication.
- Provide communication support during special events and societal disruptions.
The distribution in the position is estimated at approximately 75% as a communicator and 25% as the association secretary.
We are looking for you who
Have relevant post-secondary education in communication or other education that the employer considers equivalent.
You have a few years of experience in communication work and are accustomed to working in digital environments. You express yourself very well in Swedish, both verbally and in writing, and have an eye for how messages can be adapted for different channels and target groups. You are passionate about the written word and finding the right formulations for the right target group. We would like you to have experience in crisis communication and be accustomed to media handling.
We also see that you have:
- Very good knowledge of Microsoft 365, especially SharePoint and Teams.
- Experience working in Adobe CC and/or Canva.
- Experience working with digital communication platforms and social media.
- Good administrative skills and habit of working structured and carefully.
Meritorious
- Experience working in WordPress or other CMS.
- Experience in PR work and copy.
- Experience in project management.
- Education and experience in crisis communication.
- Experience from the public sector or politically governed organization.
Personal qualities
We believe you are a communicative, non-hierarchical, and relationship-building person. You have a natural drive, are service-oriented, and enjoy taking responsibility. You are also a natural writer and think copy is fun.
You are structured and orderly without getting stuck in details, and have the ability to create clarity even when the pace is high. You see opportunities in digital development and have a genuine interest in how communication can contribute to the organization's goals. We see that you have the ability to drive tasks independently while appreciating close collaboration with colleagues.
We offer
At Södra Älvsborgs Rescue Service Association, you get a meaningful assignment in an organization with an important societal responsibility. You become part of a business characterized by cooperation, development, and engagement – where your work contributes to security for people every day.
We value good conditions for a sustainable working life for our employees with a good work environment and the opportunity for continuous development. To achieve this, we offer a workplace with developmental tasks in a socially important function and engaged colleagues who work together to create security for the residents of the region. We invest in employee health with competitive employment terms, several wellness benefits, and activities.
Prerequisites
We offer a permanent full-time position with flexible working hours. The workplace is at the fire station in Borås, but work at our other stations may occur. Desired start date autumn 2026 or as agreed. The position may start with a six-month probationary period. Prior to all our new hires, testing for alcohol and drugs is conducted.
Welcome to apply by August 9, 2026
We work for "a rescue service for all" and strive for diversity among our employees.
