Statens institutionsstyrelse (SiS) is a government agency responsible for providing individually tailored compulsory care for young people with complex psychosocial issues and for adults with substance abuse problems. SiS also implements closed youth care. We do this at youth homes and homes for adults with substance abuse issues across the country. Working at SiS offers you an exciting professional challenge. Regardless of where you work within our organization or what role you hold, you help create life-changing change.

SiS Youth Home Ljungbacken admits boys aged 16 to 20. The institution is located in Uddevalla.

Job Description

Do you want to be part of creating life-changing change for vulnerable people? Then the role of Treatment Pedagogue at SiS is a meaningful challenge. SiS Youth Home Ljungbacken is planning to launch a new discharge-preparatory department outside the institution's grounds and is therefore seeking treatment pedagogues. Work may take place on a locked ward until the new discharge-preparatory department is ready.

As a treatment pedagogue on our discharge-preparatory department, you will become an important part of the young person's path toward a more independent life. The department is part of the institution, where you work closely with the young people in their daily lives. You work in a team together with other treatment pedagogues, a group leader, and a treatment secretary. The department is led by a unit manager. Together, you are responsible for ensuring that the young people living with us receive the security, care, and treatment they need.

Young people belonging to our open and discharge-preparatory departments will live and spend their leisure time in apartments or other housing forms outside the youth home. The young people attend external schools or have internships. Your focus is to support the young person in establishing and maintaining functioning strategies and skills for life outside the youth home. You follow and support young people in tasks such as school/internships and in contact with, for example, healthcare, but also during leisure time and at home with practical and social issues. Treatment activities consist mainly of skills training aimed at preparing the young person for a functioning life after their time at SiS, both practically and socially. Skills training also involves implementing new strategies developed in treatment into daily life outside the youth home. Your role is to be a secure adult support, to guide, and to create structure in daily life.

With the support of your knowledge in social care and treatment work, you actively contribute to the fulfillment of treatment plans. Documentation is an important part of your work, and you contribute, among other things, to legal certainty, planning, and follow-up of our operations. You also contribute to maintaining security according to our routines.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have a positive view of humanity and whose drive is to work with young people. As a person, you relate to others in a listening and flexible manner, while also being able to set boundaries and follow through on decisions. You collaborate well with your colleagues and are secure, stable, and capable of maintaining a professional attitude. We will place great emphasis on your personal suitability.

You must also have:

  • At least a 2-year post-secondary education from a folk high school or university college, or other post-secondary education that the employer deems equivalent. The education should be focused on social work, social pedagogy, behavioral science, or another relevant subject area.
  • Good Swedish language skills, both spoken and written.
  • Category B driver's license.

Qualifications that are meritorious include:

  • Experience working with people in vulnerable life situations, e.g., within psychiatry, HVB (care homes) operations, substance abuse care, correctional services, or care and assistance.
  • Knowledge and experience with Neurodevelopmental Disorders (NDD/ADHD/Autism).

Employment:

The positions are permanent full-time positions and begin with a six-month probationary period. Start date by agreement.

Working hours are according to a schedule covering days, evenings, and weekends.
