About The Game Assembly
The Game Assembly (TGA) is a Higher Vocational Education institution located in Malmö and Stockholm, focusing on education within game development. Since 2008, we have been passionate about offering practical and creative programs to nurture and inspire future talent for both the Swedish and international games industry. Recognized by The Rookies as one of the best game and design schools globally, we are proud to supply the industry with employees who possess in-demand skills, such as animators, technical artists, level designers, graphic designers, procedural artists, and programmers. Today, nearly 10 percent of professionals active in the Swedish games industry were educated at The Game Assembly. Our schools are located in Malmö and Stockholm.
About the Role
One of our colleagues is on leave, so The Game Assembly is looking for a substitute teacher in game programming who will work on educating our students on-site at Stora Essingen in Stockholm. We are looking for someone who can complement our expertise and, together with three other educators in game programming, drive the education forward. The work includes teaching along with associated preparation and follow-up work, as well as mentoring students in both game project courses and more specialized individual courses. The courses included in the position are C++ Introduction, C++ Advanced, and two game projects where the games are created in Unity. You will lead the first two courses together with an experienced colleague.
The Game Assembly's unique educational concept is based on the idea that the education at the school creates games together, meaning you will also have close collaboration with the other educational coordinators.
Who are we looking for?
To thrive in the role of an educator, we see that you are communicative and have a genuine interest in people and game development. You have good pedagogical skills along with a humble approach and patience. Furthermore, you have a deep interest in programming. You need to have a good understanding of the Swedish language as the entire education is conducted in Swedish.
We would like you to have:
- Good knowledge of programming in C++
- Experience developing and working in Unity
- Experience within the games industry
- Experience in mentoring
- Experience with agile working methods
We see it as a bonus if you have:
- Studied at The Game Assembly
- Experience developing and working in a custom game engine
