About the Swedish Prison and Probation Service (Kriminalvården)
The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and are now looking for more employees. Our most important goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the vicious cycle. If we succeed, society will become safer and more secure for everyone. We are the agency responsible for prisons, probation, remand prisons, and client transport.
Job Description
As a Prison Officer within the Transport Department (TA), you will be part of a team consisting of two to four people, where everyone is responsible for different roles in the execution of client transports.
Working at the Transport Department means your main task is to transport persons deprived of their liberty, on behalf of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service and other authorities. The work also includes guarding during, for example, court hearings and hospital visits.
Working as a prison officer means you can make a difference for other people and contribute to a better society. To thrive and succeed in your assignment, it is important that you share the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's fundamental values regarding a human view of people, respect for the individual, and belief in human development.
The tasks at TA are varied, which means your working hours may vary from day to day. Evening, night, and weekend work may be included.
The times in the schedule are framework times, usually 07:00–17:00. Framework time means that the employer can change your start time according to assignments, and the end time can be moved until the assignment is completed.
Changes to start times are communicated before the previous work shift is over. For example, a shift could be between 07:00–19:00 (12 hours) or 09:00–16:00 (7 hours).
We place great emphasis on the fact that you do not have a fixed time for each work shift, and this is something you should take into consideration if you are interested. You must be able to be flexible.
Qualifications
Your personal qualities are important. As a prison officer, you need to be secure, stable, have good self-awareness, good judgment, and integrity. Together with your colleagues, you drive the operations, so you need to have good teamwork skills and be clear in your communication. You must be able to act physically when required.
For us, it is important that you share the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's fundamental values regarding a human view of people, respect for the individual, and belief in human will and ability to develop. You are also aware of and understand how background, culture, and group affiliation affect yourself and others. Furthermore, you are expected to contribute with your attitude to ensure that everyone is treated equally. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
You need to have good physical fitness to handle sedentary work and to be able to act physically when required.
We are looking for someone who has:
REQUIREMENTS:
- Completed upper secondary education or other education combined with work experience that the Swedish Prison and Probation Service deems relevant
