About Us

The Department of Culture and Leisure is responsible for operations in the areas of libraries, leisure, sports, and culture, and employs approximately 370 staff members. A strong culture and leisure sector contributes to a good quality of life and is important for the development of stimulating living environments in the municipality and region.

The Swimming Unit, within the Department of Culture and Leisure, includes Högevall, which is a unique facility featuring:

• An adventure pool
• A competition pool with a 10-meter diving tower
• A 50-meter training pool
• Two teaching pools

We have approximately 9,000 visitors per week, around 15 associations operating with us, about 20 schools using Högevall for swimming lessons, and a team of roughly 30 employees. The unit also manages all outdoor pools and Källby Camping. Högevall is an HBTQI-certified workplace.

Job Responsibilities

Together with your colleagues, you ensure that our visitors feel welcome and have a safe stay at Högevall. The safety of our visitors in the water and at the facility is our top priority, but to thrive at Högevall, you also need a high level of service orientation and a passion for providing good customer service. Cleaning and maintenance of the premises are part of the job, and we believe you will get just as much excitement from having a pristine facility as from riding one of our water slides. The work is varied, and during a day at work, you will perform several or all of the following tasks:

• Supervise pools
• Welcome and assist visitors
• Maintain the premises
• Operate the swimming facility

Additionally, you will participate in staff meetings and have great opportunities to engage in various working groups based on your own interests. Your work at Högevall is important, sometimes demanding, and always developmental.

We are looking for someone who

... enjoys working with people and gets a kick out of providing excellent service. Proficiency in both Swedish and English is a requirement. As a person, you are highly service-oriented and have good initiative. It is also important that you enjoy varied tasks and have the ability to quickly identify what needs to be done. Flexibility is one of our key values.

You have:

• A high school diploma
• Experience in a service role
• Good interpersonal skills
• Good teamwork abilities

An important part of the employment process is to pass a swim test approved by the employer, which includes:

1. Swim 200 meters followed by 50 meters of backstroke with arms above the water surface.
2. Water treading for 5 minutes with arms above the head and at the sides.
3. Depth dive – swim at least 12 meters underwater.
4. Pick up 6 rings from a depth of 1.8 or 5 meters in a single dive.
5. Perform towing, head hold, one-arm hold, and firefighter's grip with correct technique.
6. Pick up a doll from a depth of 1.8 or 5 meters.
7. Throw a lifebuoy followed by: 25 meters swimming, diving at 1.8 meters, towing 1 person with the lifebuoy for 25 meters.
8. Rescue from the edge using correct technique.
9. Perform consciousness check, breathing check, and call for help.
10. Perform the stable side position.

Our instructors will go through the steps and explain them.

Working hours are scheduled during the day, evening, and weekends. Please submit your application directly. We conduct ongoing selection, and interviews may take place during the application period.

The person offered employment will need to provide a certified extract from the criminal record register.

About the Workplace

The swimming operations belong to the Sports Unit, which is part of the Department of Culture and Leisure. The Swimming Unit staffs and operates Högevall as well as four of the municipality's outdoor pools (Dalbybadet, Genarpsbadet, Källbybadet, Sandbybadet). The unit also manages the operations for Veberödsbadet. Högevall is a unique swimming facility filled with an adventure pool, diving tower, training and teaching pools, centrally located in the heart of Lund.
