Are you ready for a larger responsibility? The Swedish Police Authority is Sweden's largest agency with approximately 40,000 employees nationwide. With us, you have the opportunity to contribute to the Police's mission – to increase safety and reduce crime in society.

The Regional Control Centre (RLC) is a crucial part of law enforcement work and is responsible for the police's intervention activities throughout the region. The RLC is a section within the operational unit, and the workplace consists of RLC operators, RLC supervisors, and the duty officer. At the RLC, incoming telephone calls, including those from 112, as well as radio calls, are handled, assessed, and prioritized. The operations at the RLC are characterized by a clear citizen perspective, where the RLC must maintain very high availability in cases requiring immediate or swift police intervention. The RLC operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, meaning working hours are scheduled during days, nights, and evenings, as well as weekdays, weekends, and holidays.

Job Description

As an operator, you will answer 112 calls from the public, handle radio calls from police officers in the field, assess and register information, and prioritize and dispatch police resources to various assignments. To perform this task, you will follow a nationally established prioritization order and work under the leadership and support of supervisors. You will have access to several IT systems to help you search for information and create an overview. Periods of high workload and stress occur, but regardless of this, you are expected to handle both citizens and the police officers you lead in a professional manner. To thrive in this role, you need to be secure, stable, and have good self-awareness, as the tasks and working conditions can be psychologically demanding.

The operator role involves collaboration with other authorities, organizations, and partners such as SOS Alarm, the Swedish Transport Administration, Fire and Rescue Services, Mountain Rescue, and ambulance services in the region. The work as an operator begins with comprehensive training that provides you with the right tools and prerequisites to take on the assignment.

Qualifications

This is an opportunity for you if you have:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent knowledge acquired through experience
  • At least 1 year of work experience
  • Very good ability to communicate in speech and writing in Swedish
  • Good understanding and ability to communicate orally in English
  • Good computer skills and a good ability to learn new computer systems
  • Swedish citizenship

It is meritorious if you also have:

  • Experience in work where you have met or handled people in vulnerable situations (e.g., through work experience or involvement in voluntary or association activities)
  • Work experience in jobs requiring high multitasking abilities, such as emergency call centers, ambulance services, healthcare, military, communications centers, customer service/support, or similar work that the employer deems equivalent
  • Documented experience where the work was primarily conducted via telephone and computer
  • Language skills beyond Swedish and English that you can apply fluently in professional contexts deemed relevant for the position
  • Category B driver's license

Personal Qualities

As an RLC operator, you will daily interact with citizens in difficult situations. Therefore, it is a prerequisite for the position that you are communicative and have the ability to adapt your language based on who you are interacting with. Furthermore, this requires a good ability to collect and evaluate information efficiently to move cases forward in a minute-by-minute operational environment. To succeed in the role, you need the capacity to remain calm even in pressured situations. The role of RLC operator requires you to collaborate well with others and interact with them in a receptive and constructive manner. It is important that you strive for a good working climate and contribute to the team.

We will place great emphasis on personal qualities.
