Description
We are looking for a confident and engaged leader who wants to help shape the future of the rescue services in Vännäs and Bjurholm.
As the Head of Rescue Services, you are responsible for operations, economy, personnel, and working environment, while leading both operational and strategic work. The rescue services are facing exciting developments, including a new fire station, increased focus on high readiness, and strengthened cooperation with other rescue services.
Responsibilities
As Head of Rescue Services, you lead and develop the rescue services in Vännäs and Bjurholm municipalities. You have overall responsibility for operations, economy, personnel, and working environment, ensuring that the operations are conducted in accordance with legislation, political decisions, and set goals.
The role includes serving as an Incident Commander, developing operational capability, being responsible for preventive work, supervision, and authority exercises, as well as representing the rescue services in cooperation with municipalities, authorities, and other external actors.
Vännäs cooperates with Nordmaling, and the role of Incident Commander alternates between four Heads of Rescue Services, meaning you will be on standby every fourth weekend. During this week, you also serve as the Temporary Incident Commander (TIB) for Vännäs, Bjurholm, and Nordmaling.
Supporting you are, among others, a Deputy Head of Rescue Services, administrative support, and dedicated part-time firefighters and unit leaders in both Vännäs and Bjurholm.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who has:
- At least post-secondary education.
- Experience working within the rescue services as well as experience in management, leadership roles, or other supervisory positions.
- Good knowledge of the Act concerning Protection against Accidents (LSO).
- Strong administrative skills and experience working in digital operational systems.
- Good ability to communicate clearly in Swedish, both orally and in writing.
It is an advantage if you have:
- Education in rescue services, fire and risk management, fire protection, civil security, or another area deemed relevant by the employer.
- Experience as a Head of Rescue Services, Deputy Head, Incident Commander, Unit Leader, or other leadership positions within the rescue services.
- Experience with authority exercises according to LSO and LBE, including supervision and permitting work.
- Experience with budget, operations, personnel, and working environment responsibility.
- Experience of employment in the public sector.
- Experience of cooperation with municipalities, authorities, and other actors, as well as leading change and development work.
- Education in leadership.

Conditions
Permanent full-time position. The role includes standby duty every fourth weekend.
Start date according to agreement.
The position is located in Vännäs. It is possible to hold the position even if you do not reside in Vännäs Municipality, but the role requires that you can arrive within a reasonable time during standby and incident command. The arrival time assessment is made during the recruitment process.
For this position, you must undergo and pass a security clearance according to the Security Protection Act before employment.
A Category B driver's license is required. For the position, you must have or be willing to obtain a Category C driver's license. If you lack Category C qualification at the time of employment, it must be obtained within an agreed time after starting.
