About the job
Are you a person with the right spark, both feet on the ground, and your heart in the right place? Do you also want to help people in your home community feel safe in their daily lives?
As emergency response personnel on standby (part-time firefighter), you will join a strong team. You will become an important resource for society and an asset to safety work in your home community. You will be dispatched to various acute emergencies such as fires, traffic accidents, and other urgent situations where lives may be at risk. You will undergo relevant training that provides you with the necessary prerequisites to perform the job.
Your responsibilities
Work in the emergency response team, participate in training and exercise activities, and perform basic maintenance of equipment and vehicles. You will work together with other firefighters under stressful conditions, which requires good teamwork skills and social competence. You must be able to work independently and take initiative. The employment involves being on standby every third week, during which you must be able to arrive at the rescue station within 5 minutes of an alarm. Exercise activities amount to approximately 50 hours per year, preferably in the evenings.
Your profile
To become a part-time firefighter with us, you must:
- Be over 18 years old.
- Live and work near the fire station, so that you can meet the 5-minute response time requirement.
- Have good vision and hearing.
- Pass our physical fitness test on the treadmill, medical examination, and work ECG requirements with a passing grade.
- Hold a driver's license, category B at minimum, but be willing to obtain a C license (the fire department covers the cost).
- Be a competent swimmer.
- Have a certificate from your main employer stating that you are allowed to leave your workplace during regular working hours in case of an alarm.
To thrive in this role, you have teamwork skills, initiative, and are flexible. You are positive, communicative, and work without pretension.
