Police Region North is the largest region by area. The region consists of the four northernmost counties in Sweden and is organized into four police districts: Jämtland, Norrbotten, Västerbotten, and Västernorrland, which together are divided into 12 local police districts. Furthermore, there are three regional units: the operational unit, the intelligence unit, and the investigation unit, a regional office, as well as national departments represented in the region to support police operations.

The Local Police District of Southern Lapland is part of the Västerbotten Police District. Within the local police district, there are intervention and crime prevention activities, investigation groups, as well as support and services. The Local Police District of Southern Lapland includes six municipalities with permanent investigators in three of them: Storuman, Vilhelmina, and Lycksele.

We are now looking for you who want to work as an Investigating Officer in the Local Police District of Southern Lapland with a workplace in Storuman or Vilhelmina.

RESPONSIBILITIES

In the role of Investigating Officer, you are primarily responsible for exercising leadership within the investigation process in consultation with the Group Manager. This means that among other things, you will be responsible for:

• Making decisions in or outside the preliminary investigation in accordance with your appointment/delegation
• Leading, supporting, and coaching the investigators within the local police district
• Coordinating and creating a holistic view of ongoing investigations
• Maintaining close cooperation with the Public Prosecution Service
• Ensuring that operations are conducted according to the Swedish Police Authority's intentions and guidelines in accordance with current legislation, regulations, and other rules
• Participating in training initiatives and evaluating operations
• Driving the development of investigation activities together with the Group Manager
• As needed, being responsible for preliminary investigations when investigating cases in other parts of the police district.
• As needed, being prepared to act as Group Manager in their absence

QUALIFICATIONS

This is an opportunity for you who have:

• Swedish police degree, in accordance with the Police Ordinance (2014:1104) or alternatively other education or experience that the employer considers relevant
• Good ability to express yourself well in speech and writing in Swedish
• B-driver's license

It is meritorious if you also have:

• Investigating Officer training
• Experience in criminal investigation activities
• Documented experience in leadership

Personal Qualities

As an Investigating Officer, you will play a central role in criminal investigations, and we are therefore looking for you who have a genuine interest in investigating crime. The work can sometimes be intense and therefore requires that you are flexible and at the same time have a good ability to quickly structure, plan, and prioritize the case flow from the operation's holistic perspective.

To be successful in the role, you should have a good ability to make decisions and have a developed communication skill. You should be skilled in using and conveying your knowledge, giving directives, and showing good judgment even under time pressure. You are development-oriented and can, as a result, also inspire and lead others in changes.

As an Investigating Officer, you have many contact surfaces both internally and externally, which requires good cooperation skills and is relationship-building. You have a strong commitment, are receptive, and are eager to engage in employee-driven improvement work.
