The world around us is changing rapidly. New technology, new ways of working, and increased expectations from citizens create both opportunities and challenges for healthcare. At the same time, the proportion of elderly people in the population is increasing while fewer are available on the labor market. To meet future needs, the region must continue to develop and, through digitalization and information management, create conditions for more efficient working methods. We are now looking for an experienced Health Informatician who wants to contribute to a more information-driven and sustainable healthcare system. With us, you will have the opportunity to create value by enabling efficient information management and functional information flows – from initial registration to final reuse.

We want to continue to be at the forefront with care, research, and education. It is about daring to think new thoughts – and having the best employees. Therefore, we offer unique opportunities for further learning and invest in modern environments with effective systems and tools. Many of us meet patients and relatives, while others create the conditions for vital interventions. With us, wonderful people work towards the same goal – to make a real difference, and forward for life.
Job Description
As a Health Informatician, you work at the intersection of healthcare operations, information management, and digital systems. You contribute to creating conditions for region-wide uniform terminology and structured, purposeful, and quality-assured documentation that supports both patient-facing work, legal requirements, and the organization's needs for follow-up, analysis, development, and information transfer. In this role, you work closely with healthcare operations to understand concepts and needs, map information flows, and identify opportunities for improvement. You translate operational needs into practical solutions in our healthcare information systems by developing terminologies, creating code sets, defining and configuring search terms, documentation templates, and other structures for uniform and quality-assured registration of healthcare information. The role also involves creating educational material, training, guiding, and supporting operations in the use of new solutions and information structures. The position is based in Linköping, but remote work opportunities are available.
The Team
The Data and Analysis Unit is part of the region's development function and consists of approximately 40 employees with competencies in areas such as analysis, information architecture, business development, and health informatics. You will become part of a team of five Health Informaticians who work together to develop information structures and documentation support for the region's operations. The team is responsible for supporting operations in matters concerning health informatics, general healthcare information management, and specifically structures for healthcare documentation. Health informatics competence is also a key part of the development, implementation, and change of healthcare information systems, where the Health Informatician contributes knowledge about operational needs related to the efficiency of information management and documentation processes. We work closely with both healthcare operations and other specialist functions, participating in both small improvement projects and larger development initiatives within healthcare. The work is characterized by collaboration, knowledge exchange, and a shared ambition to create solutions that provide real value to healthcare staff and patients.
About You
We are looking for you who have a university degree in Health Informatics, or a combination of educational background and experience that the employer considers equivalent. For example, a university degree in systems science, information systems, cognitive science, medical technology, or equivalent, or alternatively a university degree in healthcare or healthcare administration combined with knowledge in health informatics. You have experience working at the intersection of operations and digital solutions and are accustomed to analyzing needs, driving development work, and translating complex issues into practically usable solutions. It is also desirable that you have good knowledge in terminology work and language care.
It is meritorious if you have knowledge or experience in:
- health informatics or information management within healthcare
- concept and information modeling
- standards in health informatics, such as SnomedCT and OpenEHR
- healthcare information systems, preferably Cosmic
- quality registers, follow-up, or secondary use of health data
- business development, change management, or system implementation
We are looking for you who combine analytical skills with a strong commitment to the development of operations. You are proactive and independent and thrive in a role where you take responsibility, drive issues forward, and create results together with others. Since the work involves close collaboration with many different professional groups, you have good teamwork skills and a service-oriented approach. You are attuned to the needs of operations and have an easy time building trusting relationships. You have the ability to see the big picture and understand the connections between care processes, information flows, and digital solutions. At the same time, you are structured and quality-conscious with the ability to handle complex issues in a systematic way. You value quality in your work and contribute to solutions that are sustainable in the long term for both operations and users. Since the work involves a strong focus on language, it is important that you have a good ability to express yourself in Swedish, both orally and in writing.
