The position is located within the Legal Unit, which is part of the Executive Office. Together, we ensure lawful, transparent, and efficient governance of the university's operations. Chalmers' consolidated operational support plays a central role in the university's ambition to become an international top university.
Job Description
As a lawyer in the Legal Unit, you will work with a broad spectrum of legal issues within the university's operations, with a special focus on research law, contract law, and intellectual property law. The role is closely linked to national and international research funding, including the EU's framework programs for research and innovation.
Examples of tasks
- Advisory and expert support within research law, including issues related to national and international research funding.
- Advisory and case handling related to the EU's framework programs for research and innovation (e.g., Horizon Europe), including interpretation of terms, support in applications, and implementation.
- Contract work related to research and innovation, such as consortium agreements, collaboration agreements, non-disclosure agreements (NDA), and license and transfer agreements for intellectual property rights.
- Advisory services within intellectual property law, including issues regarding ownership, usage rights, and management of research results.
- Advisory services on export control, research security, and safe handling of sensitive technology in international research collaborations.
- Advisory and case handling within administrative law, public access and confidentiality, as well as education law, particularly in matters related to research and doctoral education.
- Advisory services regarding research data and legal aspects related to ethical review, personal data, and confidentiality.
- Develop and create internal regulations, guidelines, and policy documents.
- Participate in internal information and training initiatives.
- Follow developments in legislation and research funding and analyze their consequences for Chalmers.
- Contribute to the development of modern working methods and tools that support Chalmers' strategy and operations.
You will have many contact points, both within the organization and with external parties such as universities, companies, authorities, and research funders. You are expected to contribute specialist competence and serve as a consultative support to both colleagues within operational support and the broader organization.

Qualifications
We are looking for you who have:
- A law degree.
- A few years of professional experience as a lawyer.
- Very good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in both Swedish and English.
- Good teamwork skills and the ability to create and maintain good relationships.
- Ability to communicate legal issues in a clear, pedagogical, and easy-to-understand manner.
- Ability to work independently, structured, and solution-oriented.
- Good analytical skills and the ability to relate legal issues to the needs of the operations.
- Ability to prioritize and plan your work effectively.
- A strong sense of service and responsibility.
It is meritorious if you have experience with:
- Intellectual property issues in research and innovation environments.
- Project and collaboration agreements within research, including consortium agreements.
- The EU's framework programs for research and innovation (e.g., Horizon Europe), grant funding, and other international research funders.
- Export control, research security, and/or development of IP strategies in research or innovation environments.
- Work at a university, college, or research-intensive company.
