Do you want to make a difference for the city's children and young people who are placed outside their homes? We are now expanding our staffing for operational supervisors and are looking for a secure and experienced team leader for our foster care services.

About the workplace

In the city, the Social Services Department is responsible for individual and family care. Our mission is to enable residents to become independent in life so that they can take an active part in society.

The Social Services Department is in the midst of shaping ourselves according to the new social services act, with a focus on creating a more accessible social service based on three main areas; authority, intervention and service, and housing. As a complement to our work in shaping ourselves according to the new Social Services Act, a major administrative-wide effort is also being made in the form of implementing Signs of Safety.

As we are now expanding our capacity regarding operational support and supervision for our case workers within foster care, we are now looking for a secure and experienced team leader.

The Foster Care Service in Helsingborg consists of 35 case workers in different roles and functions. In addition to case workers, there are two unit managers and two team leaders, which will now be expanded to three. Together, we work to give placed children the prerequisites for a secure upbringing, personal well-being, and opportunities to develop. The focus is, and should be, on the child. We believe that a successful foster care assignment is also built on the fact that adults around the child receive the right support. Therefore, we strive to offer our task holders continuous supervision and high accessibility. At the same time, we actively work to strengthen and support the biological parents, as we know that good cooperation between foster homes, biological networks, and social services creates the best prerequisites for the child.

Here at the foster care unit, no one stands alone. We support each other, share our knowledge, and develop together to make a real difference for some of society's most vulnerable. For us, the future of foster care is about managing the assignment we have been given at the right time, in the right scope, and with a good attitude.

Job responsibilities

As a team leader, you are responsible for leading and coordinating the daily work for child and family care case workers. You work closely together with the case workers, provide support in cases, and are involved in developing both working methods and people. Sometimes the law is in focus. Sometimes it is about structures or difficult assessments. But often it is your ability to ask the right questions – rather than having all the answers – that makes the difference. You believe that the best solutions grow through cooperation, lack of hierarchy, and a common commitment.

The tasks may include, among other things:

  • Provide support and guidance to case workers in ongoing cases
  • Ensure legally secure handling and documentation according to current legislation
  • Introduce and supervise new employees
  • Participate in development and quality work
  • Collaborate with internal and external actors
  • Contribute to business planning and follow-up together with the unit manager

Qualifications

We are looking for you who…

  • have a degree in social work
  • have at least four years of experience in authority practice within child and family care, of which at least two years within foster care
  • have good knowledge of relevant legislation, such as SoL (Social Services Act) and LVU (Law on Care of Young People).

It is meritorious if you have experience of being a leader, education in areas such as supervision, Signs of Safety, or BBIC.

Great importance will be attached to personal suitability.

The Business Area Authority makes some adjustments to its existing organization, which means that some parts need to be formally decided in collaboration with the unions before the decision can be implemented. For this reason, the recruitment for this position is dependent on us being able to proceed according to the proposal for a decision.
