Your Role

As a Strategic Sourcing Engineer, you play a key role at the interface between development, procurement, quality, and external suppliers. You are responsible for identifying, evaluating, and developing suppliers, as well as ensuring that external development and manufacturing partners deliver technical solutions that meet requirements for functionality, quality, cost, and delivery.

The role combines technical expertise with business acumen and involves close collaboration with both internal stakeholders and external suppliers throughout the entire product development process. You actively contribute to strategic purchasing decisions, supplier development, and the execution of external development projects.

Your main responsibilities include:

• Driving and participating in the identification, qualification, and selection of suppliers for development and production projects.
• Representing the development organization in cross-functional purchasing and sourcing teams, as well as participating in RFQ processes and supplier selection.
• Defining, collecting, and communicating technical requirements, specifications, and scope of work.
• Developing and quality-assuring technical documentation and Statement of Work (SoW) for external development assignments.
• Leading technical evaluations and benchmarking of supplier offers.
• Planning, coordinating, and monitoring technical activities, milestones, and supplier progress throughout the development process.
• Contributing technical expertise during commercial discussions and supplier negotiations.
• Identifying and managing technical risks, as well as driving improvements in quality, cost, delivery precision, and innovation.
• Ensuring correct configuration management, documentation, and traceability throughout the entire product lifecycle.

Your Profile

We are looking for you who have a solid technical background and thrive in a role where technology, business, and supplier development meet. You have several years of experience in product development, technical purchasing, sourcing, supplier development, or technical project management, and are comfortable working at the interface between development, procurement, and external suppliers.

You have experience evaluating technical solutions and supplier capabilities, as well as a good understanding of product development and industrialization processes. Experience in strategic purchasing, project purchasing, or supplier development within product areas such as communication systems, telecom, networks, or mechanics is considered an asset.

As a person, you are business-minded, analytical, and solution-oriented. You easily build trusting relationships and communicate effortlessly with both internal and external stakeholders. You are proactive, work in a structured manner, and drive issues forward even in complex project environments.

You thrive in a cross-functional role where you get to combine technical understanding with strategic thinking and have the ability to create alignment between different functions and suppliers. With a proactive approach, you identify opportunities for improvement and contribute to long-term sustainable solutions that strengthen both the business and supplier collaboration.

The position requires you to undergo and be approved according to the security clearance regulations in effect at the time. For positions where Saab has requirements for security classification, this may, in some cases, entail citizenship requirements.

Please note that the selection process will take place during the summer. Interviews are expected to be conducted in August/September.
