About Us

The Patient Ombudsman's Office is an independent and impartial function within Region Blekinge. The Patient Ombudsman's operations cover issues related to healthcare and dental care provided by the region or municipality, or under agreement with the region. Our mission is governed by a political board: The Patient Ombudsman.

The Patient Ombudsman serves as support and assistance to patients and their relatives in their contact with healthcare. As an Investigating Secretary with us, you will have the opportunity to contribute to good patient safety and play an important role in promoting dialogue between patients, relatives, and healthcare providers.

The Patient Ombudsman's Office also contributes to quality development and high patient safety by highlighting experiences and feedback from patients and relatives. As part of this work, the Patient Ombudsman collaborates with the Inspectorate for Care and Social Services (IVO) and the National Board of Health and Welfare (Socialstyrelsen).

The Patient Ombudsman's Office is a small operation with short decision-making paths and extensive contact areas. About the Job

You will work with the processing of incoming cases and in the role, you will have daily contact with patients and relatives, as well as with various functions and managers within healthcare. A central part of your work is also to serve as an advisory function where you, among other things, provide information about patients' rights, healthcare regulations, and other relevant information related to Region Blekinge's guidelines.

The work as an Investigating Secretary includes, among other things:

  • providing information about the operation to various interest groups, healthcare, and the public, as well as handling contacts with various authorities
  • contributing to quality development and high patient safety by analyzing incoming cases, compiling reports, and collaborating with affected operations
  • developing, implementing, maintaining, and improving internal processes
  • representing the operation and presenting the Patient Ombudsman and its results both internally and externally
  • receiving and processing complaint cases and helping and supporting patients and relatives
  • training, supporting, and appointing support persons for patients treated under involuntary care legislation

You will have an independent role where high demands are placed on personal responsibility and the ability to drive your work forward. At the same time, you will become part of a small operation where collaboration, engagement, and participation are important parts of our way of working.

Region Blekinge mobilizes all permanent staff for wartime service. Some of our positions are security-classified, where the employee must undergo a security clearance interview and register control according to the Security Protection Act (2018:585).

About You

We are looking for you who have a university/college education within healthcare, or other education that the employer deems equivalent. A driver's license is required for the position.

You have very good ability to express yourself in Swedish, both orally and in writing.

We would like you to have experience working in similar roles as well as experience with different tools and systems for data analysis. It is also meritorious if you have experience in case processing and legal issues.

As a person, you are service-oriented and have a genuine interest in helping and guiding other people. You thrive working both independently and together with others. You have a good ability to structure and organize your work, are confident in your role, and have good judgment even in complex situations.

Great importance will be attached to personal suitability.
