IT Security Specialist

based in Norrköping

As an IT Security Specialist, you will be part of the IT Security Unit within the Maritime Administration's IT Department, which currently consists of approximately 100 employees. You will play a key role in developing and strengthening the Maritime Administration's technical security capabilities, contributing specialist expertise. On the IT Department, we work closely with each other and the business operations, both physically and digitally. We offer the possibility to work remotely a few days a week, while still valuing physical presence when needed. Close collaboration creates conditions for fast decision-making processes and smooth cooperation between different roles and departments. Our working methods are agile, allowing room for contributing new ideas that create user value and IT benefits throughout the entire lifecycle of IT services.

Key Responsibilities

A central part of the role is to further develop the agency's capabilities in IT security. You will work both strategically and practically with security logging, and contribute to developing methods for detection, analysis, and incident handling.

You will work closely with other business units and external suppliers. You will also serve as a specialist and advisor on IT security matters. As an IT Security Specialist here, you will have the opportunity to work with advanced security issues in an organization with an important societal mission. You will have significant responsibility, the ability to influence, and the chance to work together with engaged colleagues to strengthen the Maritime Administration's IT and information security.

In the role, you will among other things:

  • specify requirements, review, and evaluate IT security in new and existing solutions
  • develop and manage the Maritime Administration's technical security capabilities
  • develop logging strategies, identify relevant log sources, and contribute to the development of detection rules and security monitoring
  • analyze security-related events and contribute to developing the agency's ability to detect and handle security incidents
  • produce governing documents, guidelines, and procedures within the IT security area
  • support IT and the business with requirements and advice regarding IT security
  • collaborate with the operations organization, suppliers, and other stakeholders to ensure a high security level in the agency's IT environments
  • organize and lead workshops on IT and information security
  • follow developments in the field and translate new technology and working methods into business benefits
  • lead or participate in projects and development initiatives as needed

Who are you?

We are looking for someone who has:

  • a university or college education in IT security, computer science, data technology, systems science, or other education and experience that the employer deems equivalent
  • several years of current experience, at least three years, working as an IT Security Specialist or in a similar role
  • current experience in strategic, tactical, and operational work within IT and information security
  • current experience working with security logging and security monitoring, including incident handling, in a government agency, other public sector operations, or large organizations
  • experience in specifying requirements, reviewing, and evaluating technical solutions from an IT security perspective
  • experience in producing governing documents, guidelines, and procedures within IT security
  • good knowledge of current laws, regulations, and standards in the field, such as ISO 27001 & 27002, cybersecurity legislation, and regulations for security-sensitive operations
  • good understanding and current experience working with client management, networks, virtualization, storage, and backup, etc.
  • good proficiency in Swedish and English, both spoken and written

The following qualifications are meritorious:

  • experience working in a government agency or other public sector operations
  • experience working with SIEM platforms or other security monitoring solutions
  • experience with incident handling or security analysis
  • certifications in IT and information security, cybersecurity, or security architecture
  • experience leading projects or major development initiatives within the IT security field
  • experience working in accordance with security protection legislation (PMFS 2019:2 & 2022:1)

You are analytical, structured, and meticulous, with the ability to see both the big picture and the details.

You are accustomed to taking initiative, driving issues forward, and working independently, while also having excellent collaboration skills. The role requires that you can communicate complex technical issues clearly and pedagogically, both to technical specialists and to people without a technical background.

You have a consultative approach, enjoy sharing your knowledge, and feel confident in the role of specialist and advisor. Furthermore, you have experience leading workshops, coordinating various stakeholders, and contributing to creating long-term and sustainable security solutions.

This recruitment is for a permanent position expected to be filled as soon as possible.

The Maritime Administration may apply a six-month probationary period.
