Through Sunet, the Swedish Research Council works to deliver IT services and infrastructure services to the higher education sector. Our customers are primarily universities and colleges, but also larger research infrastructures and certain government agencies.
Sunet operates the world's most modern research network and world-class digital identity services. Since the 1980s, we have delivered IT services and networks to Sweden's universities, colleges, and research infrastructures. As an employee of the Swedish Research Council, you are part of a global community of IT professionals working to support research and the development of the internet worldwide. We are now looking for you, who are at the beginning of your career, for the role of Systems Specialist, to contribute to qualified support and project efforts. The position is located within the Platform Operations and Operational Security unit.
Role Description and Responsibilities
Our unit currently consists of 11 employees. We are humble and help each other while maintaining high standards – both for ourselves and for each other. We also always strive to be the best, which is why continuous development and education are important to us.
The responsibilities primarily include:
- operations-oriented security monitoring in Microsoft Defender XDR
- analysis of log information
- handling and support during incidents related to operations and security
- quality follow-up to ensure correct documentation
- participation in security-related projects and activities
The role also includes on-call duties.
Who are you?
We place great emphasis on your personal qualities. As a person, you have a strong interest in IT security and good analytical skills to see patterns where others see noise. You enjoy taking responsibility and can independently drive your work forward. You are communicative and can contribute your own suggestions for solutions. You can create structure in your work, prioritize independently based on your tasks, and have the desire to learn new things. You are also a team player who thrives in teams and is accustomed to having dialogue with customers.
You should have:
- a current technical degree with a focus on data or security from a university or college
- current and basic knowledge of Windows environments, for example: M365, EntraID, Defender XDR, Windows Server
- current and basic knowledge of Linux and networking
- current and basic understanding of log analysis
- good ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing, in Swedish and English
It is an advantage if you also have one or more of the following:
- knowledge of log management platforms
- knowledge of scripting (e.g., Python and PowerShell)
Location
Our office is located at Tulegatan 11 in central Stockholm.
Employment Type and Start Date
We offer a permanent full-time position with a 6-month probationary period. We would like you to start as soon as possible, taking into account any notice period.
