The Pediatric Care Unit (VE) in Ystad consists of a pediatric emergency department, an inpatient ward, day care, and a specialist clinic. We operate in Ystad with a total of approximately 80 employees and belong to the Ystad Hospital administration.

Our pediatric emergency department receives children and adolescents from all specialties, aged 0-18, with acute medical conditions around the clock. We also receive ambulance calls with priority levels two to four. The Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine Ward has three inpatient beds and additional beds for day care activities for children and adolescents up to 18 years old. The medical specialties are primarily pediatrics, surgery, orthopedics, and ENT (ear, nose, and throat).

RESPONSIBILITIES

We welcome you who are an innovative and development-oriented nurse, recently graduated or with some more experience, or pediatric nurses to join us at the pediatric emergency department and the Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine Ward in Ystad.

Here, you are offered a job with great breadth and variety as the operations include the pediatric emergency department, day care, and inpatient care. You will have the opportunity to make a difference for our patients and follow them through the entire care chain, from the emergency room, to admission and discharge. We also care for children and adolescents before and after surgery.

In your role, you work in a team with assistant nurses, medical secretaries, physiotherapists, and dietitians. You collaborate closely with doctors and work to ensure that operations run smoothly. In addition to providing care for children and families, you also work on developing work methods and routines and ensure that the right equipment is available. Furthermore, you assess and triage children and adolescents at the pediatric emergency, receive ambulance calls, perform examinations, and provide treatment.

When you start with us, we offer you a thorough introduction adapted to your knowledge and experience so that you can get into the work in the best possible way. For you who are recently graduated, personal mentoring and a clinical base year in pediatrics are included in your introduction. Thereafter, there is an opportunity for further education if needed.

Not least for the children and their families, this is a great source of security, but we staff also greatly appreciate being part of the care even after the visit to the pediatric emergency. It is so inspiring to work with children, partly because you are not just working with the children but the whole family, which adds another dimension to the work," says Anna, pediatric nurse.

QUALIFICATIONS

You who apply are a licensed nurse with the right to practice in Swedish healthcare. Proficiency in Swedish corresponding to at least level C1 according to the Council of Europe scale is a requirement for the position. It is meritorious if you have education in and experience of pediatric care, either on a pediatric ward or from a pediatric emergency.

We are looking for you with a positive attitude, who are secure in your professional role and have high flexibility to adapt to the conditions of the work. You can plan and prioritize your work, have a good ability to work in a team, and find it easy to work independently. Furthermore, you are development-oriented and try to see new solutions to old problems. For us, it is valuable if you have commitment, a good sense of service, and the ability to take responsibility. Since we are keen on finding the right person for the position, we place great emphasis on personal suitability.
