You will join a team of four other refugee coordinators led by a team leader. The Refugee Reception is organized within the Social Assistance Unit, which is part of the Employment and Social Administration, under the Employment Section. The unit is led by a unit manager and a deputy unit manager with approximately 40 employees. Based on a respectful approach, the Refugee Reception works with the goal of enabling individuals to become independent citizens, gain understanding of, and integrate into Swedish society.

The vision is more qualitative social work for the residents of Falu and a more attractive workplace for the employees. The work of the Refugee Reception is based on the values of the Employment and Social Administration. We start from the equal value of all people and respectful treatment. Residents should expect fast and accessible information and counseling.

Job Responsibilities

Falu Municipality's Refugee Reception primarily receives quota refugees and those in need of protection according to the mass flight directive. As a refugee coordinator, your main task is to support newly arrived individuals during their establishment period.

Together with your team, you are responsible for the entire reception process. The tasks include, among other things:

  • receiving and picking up newly arrived individuals upon arrival
  • providing practical support in connection with housing
  • providing practical support and information in our accommodations for persons covered by the mass flight directive
  • guiding towards appropriate measures and societal actors
  • providing pedagogical support that strengthens the individual's independence and participation

You work in close collaboration with social secretaries at the Social Assistance Unit and are part of a team that jointly drives reception and integration efforts for a good establishment. Collaboration, both internally and externally, is an important part of the work.

Qualifications

Required for the role:

  • Degree in behavioral science, social work, social science, integration, or another area deemed relevant by the employer
  • Experience with documentation
  • Good knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written
  • Experience working with newly arrived immigrants, focusing on societal introduction and integration
  • Good knowledge of the Swedish societal system
  • Category B driver's license for manual transmission vehicles
  • Good computer skills

Meritorious Qualifications

  • Language skills in languages commonly encountered at the Refugee Reception, such as: Persian, Dari, Arabic, Swahili, Kinyarwanda, and Kurdish.
  • Knowledge and understanding of cultures other than Swedish
  • Knowledge and/or experience within the areas of social services

Employment Terms

Fixed-term employment from September 1, 2026, to December 31, 2027, subject to project funds being granted to finance this position.
