Do you want to make a real impact and create change? Here you contribute to creating security for people and societies. What you do matters.
Are you passionate about control engineering and aviation? Do you want to be part of developing one of the world's most advanced fighter aircraft? We are now looking for a Control Law Designer for the team behind the JAS 39 Gripen.
Your Role
You will become part of a high-performing team of 8–9 people. Our primary mission is to ensure that the aircraft is stable throughout the entire flight envelope and that the desired flight qualities (FQ/HQ – Flying and Handling Qualities) are achieved.
The team drives the design of control laws for all flying platforms within Aeronautics, which includes the Gripen E/F and Gripen C/D, as well as the next generation of fighter aircraft. To stay at the forefront of technology, we also work on extensive technology studies that raise our collective competence and capability.
As a Control Law Designer, you are involved in the entire development chain, from concept to closed requirement.
This means, among other things, that you will:
- Design control systems in a Simulink/Matlab environment.
- Evaluate the control system code in simulation environments – both via bench simulation and in our development rigs, in close collaboration with verification engineers and test pilots.
- Participate in flight test activities through test planning and analysis of test results.
Your Profile
We are looking for you who are a Master of Science in Engineering in fields such as aerospace/vehicle engineering, technical physics, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or equivalent, with a solid foundation in control engineering. Since all documentation is conducted in English, good language skills are required.
Qualifying experiences:
- PhD education in a relevant technical field.
- Experience of product development in control engineering design or from the aviation industry.
- Knowledge of Matlab/Simulink and the programming language C.
- A general interest in aviation (possession of a pilot license is an advantage).
You are a driven person who takes significant personal responsibility for planning and driving your tasks forward. We are looking for you who enjoy taking ownership of your work, but who is also a pronounced team player. Since much of the work takes place in teams, your ability to collaborate and your positive attitude are crucial for us to reach our goals together.
The position requires that you undergo and are approved according to current security clearance regulations. For positions where Saab has requirements for security classification, this may, in some cases, entail requirements for certain citizenship.
