Description

Our school district consists of five school units: Vättnedalsskolan F-6, Ängåsskolan F-6, Kannebäcksskolan Adapted Primary School 1-9, Kannebäcksskolan Deaf and Hard of Hearing F-9, and Kannebäcksskolan Resource School 1-9. While the units have partially different assignments, we strive together to create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating environment where all our students can learn and develop according to their prerequisites. The management team consists of one principal and seven deputy principals. Approximately 300 employees work in sydväst20.

We are currently looking for an experienced and dedicated speech therapist who wants to be part of our student health team and contribute to supporting our students' language and communication development. As a school speech therapist, you work at the individual, group, and organizational levels. You work closely with the district's special education teachers and, of course, with our class teachers. The position is located at Kannebäck Resource School.

Responsibilities

Together with your colleagues, you will identify the support that students need. You will collaborate with dedicated teachers and teaching assistants to support students' knowledge development during the school day and in after-school activities. This involves offering colleagues support in their work regarding speech, language, communication, play/social interaction, reading, and writing through a supervisory approach. You will also work directly with students (individually or in groups) by mapping, planning, and implementing interventions that strengthen skills in these areas.

As a school speech therapist, you are part of the schools' student health services, which primarily work to promote health and prevent issues. Designing and conducting staff training is a recurring part of the speech therapist's assignment. The work is varied, and you have great opportunities to influence methods and structure. There are currently three speech therapists within the district; you will be the fourth.

Qualifications

You are a licensed speech therapist and have several years of experience in identifying and supporting students with linguistic and communicative difficulties.

It is meritorious if you have:

  • Experience working as a school speech therapist.
  • Good knowledge of the target group of children/young people with Intellectual Disability and/or Neurodevelopmental Disorders (NPF).
  • Experience with various forms of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), such as Sign Support (TAKK), visual support for cognitive purposes, and high- and low-tech visual communication.
  • Pedagogical experience.
  • Good knowledge of current research regarding speech, language, and communication difficulties as well as reading and writing difficulties.

You have good ability to work together with other professions. By being interested and creating understanding for others, you foster a respectful work climate. You understand the common mission, act accordingly, and contribute to the whole. You adapt easily to changed prerequisites and new information, work independently based on what the situation requires, and make your own decisions within the framework of your assignment.
