About our open position

This is an independent role within a general psychiatry team where you will meet patients across all diagnostic groups. Together with the rest of the team, you will work with follow-ups and assessments from a nursing perspective, as well as in connection with BAS investigations. You will also be responsible for conducting annual health conversations for the patients in your team. There is also an opportunity to focus on specific patient groups or treatment methods based on your experience and knowledge.

The role involves individual patient contacts, including collaboration with relatives and other resource persons. You will be personally responsible for a number of patients as their primary care contact and will also perform targeted interventions in other cases. We would appreciate it if you are interested in or have experience with collaboration, teamwork, and planning your own work. The clinic offers opportunities for further education and development for our employees. Regular supervision is offered when needed.

About us

The Psychiatry Clinic in Alingsås is part of adult psychiatry at Södra Älvsborg Hospital. The clinic serves the catchment areas of Alingsås and Lerum municipalities, with a population of approximately 90,000. Due to its location, the Alingsås clinic has excellent communication and transport links. Our staff includes nurses, doctors, nursing assistants, psychologists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, social workers, secretaries, and the unit manager. The nursing assistant group currently consists of four assistants, who will soon be five. Some have specializations and long experience in psychiatric care, while others are relatively new and work with all patient groups. Many staff members have worked at the clinic for many years, which contributes to stability and security. The clinic is characterized by openness, engagement, and collegial care, where laughter is a regular part of daily work.

Your profile

We are looking for you who are trained as a nursing assistant (undersköterska) with a focus on psychiatry or as a nursing assistant (skötare). A valid B-driver's license is required for this position. You should enjoy working in a team and have a genuine interest in psychiatry. You are confident in your professional role and have experience meeting people with mental health issues. Experience working with patients diagnosed with bipolar disorder or psychotic illness is an advantage. As a person, you are calm, curious, innovative, open to collaboration, and contribute to creating a good atmosphere and helping others. The ability to share knowledge and utilize the competence of your colleagues is highly valued, as our team is characterized by strong engagement. Personal suitability is given great importance.

Protected professional title

As of July 1, 2023, "nursing assistant" (undersköterska) became a protected professional title. This means you need a certificate from the National Board of Health and Welfare (Socialstyrelsen) to use the title, or alternatively, you must provide an employment certificate stating that you hold a permanent position as a nursing assistant, thereby falling under the transitional rules.

In the meantime, pending certification from the National Board of Health and Welfare (or an employment certificate), the position will be offered as a fixed-term appointment with the title "Care Assistant" (Assistent omvårdnad). The employment will convert to a permanent position with the title "Nursing Assistant" (Undersköterska) once the certificate (or employment certificate) regarding the protected title is received.
