Job Responsibilities

Social Emergency Services handles urgent cases across all areas of social services, including reports of concern regarding children, youth, and adults, cases involving domestic violence, the Care of Young Persons (Special Provisions) Act (LVU), the Care of Abusers of Substances Act (LVM), and urgent decisions regarding housing and financial assistance. The service supports both the City of Malmö and Burlöv Municipality and is part of Malmö City's crisis support organization.

A broad range of social issues are addressed in Social Emergency Services, making the work varied and the pace unpredictable. You work independently with a high degree of delegation alongside your colleagues, and no assessment is made alone. Together, you work to continuously develop the operations, including through method development and collaboration internally and externally. The duties also include telephone counseling.

Social Emergency Services also serves as the first eyes on the scene in crisis situations. As needed, Social Emergency Services provides operational support to Malmö City's central crisis management and initiates crisis support for the residents of Malmö.

On weekdays, Social Emergency Services is open between 16:00 and 08:00. On weekends and public holidays, it is open 24/7. Working hours are scheduled according to a roster during all these times.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who meet the following requirements for the position:

  • University degree in Social Work (180 ECTS / 210 Swedish credits)
  • At least 5 years of experience in authority-based work within social services, preferably in the area of Children and Youth
  • Good knowledge of legislation regarding LVU, LVM, and the Social Services Act (SoL) and the ability to apply it in practice.
  • Experience with BBIC (Barns Behov i Centrum)
  • Very good proficiency in Swedish, both spoken and written
  • Good computer skills
  • Category B driver's license for manual transmission

It is meritorious if you have previously worked according to "Signs of Safety," have training and experience in Motivational Interviewing (MI), and further education in the area of children and youth (such as attachment theory, ADHD, etc.). Experience working in Procapita and/or Lifecare will facilitate your work. Further merit is given to those who have worked in crisis operations or have other experience in meeting people in crisis.

About the Workplace

14 employees work in Social Emergency Services on a rolling 16-week schedule that includes day shifts, evening shifts, and night shifts, both on weekdays and weekends.
