At the Swedish Migration Agency, we work with one of today's major societal challenges – migration. We have a total of approximately 6,000 employees here, and we have an unusually important job!

We are looking for a Statistician specializing in statistical production for the Statistics and Analysis unit. The migration area is undergoing significant shifts due to various external factors such as the EU's Migration and Asylum Pact, the government's reform policy, and the geopolitical security situation. In light of these changes, the Agency needs to strengthen its analytical capabilities and shape the future of statistical production.

As an employee at the Swedish Migration Agency, you can expect a rewarding job in a dynamic environment characterized by a focus on continuous improvement, collaboration, and respect for the individual.

You will belong to the Statistics and Analysis unit, which is part of the Planning Department. The unit is responsible for the Agency's consolidated statistics and consists of 18 colleagues located in Norrköping and Sundbyberg. The unit possesses broad competence, with employees working on statistical inquiries, follow-up, forecasting, and predictive work, as well as development and maintenance. The unit collaborates extensively with other units within its own department as well as with other departments.

Main responsibilities

As a statistician, you will develop and maintain one or more statistical areas together with the other employees in the unit. The work covers the entire statistical process, from data processing and quality assurance to the publication and communication of statistics.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Analyzing and processing register data as a basis for statistical production
  • Developing logic and specifying requirements for new variables in statistical registers
  • Ensuring definitions, documentation, and quality in statistics and registers
  • Developing and maintaining your statistical area in our statistical portal, which is currently under construction
  • Making statistics accessible through the statistical portal as well as through in-depth reports, ongoing statistical deliveries, and statistical orders
  • Answering questions about the statistics from both internal and external statistical users
  • Contributing to the development and efficiency of statistical production

Who are you?

We are looking for you who are analytical, meticulous, and structured. You enjoy delving into data and have a systematic working method where quality and reliability are obvious starting points.

You are service-oriented and enjoy providing support and guidance to both internal and external users of the statistics. The role also requires good collaboration skills, while allowing you to plan and drive your work forward independently. You have the ability to take initiative and actively contribute to the development and improvement of methods and processes within the statistical field.

We are looking for you who have

  • An academic degree in statistics, or other education that the Swedish Migration Agency considers equivalent
  • Programming skills in SQL, SAS, or Qliksense
  • Good communication skills and express yourself well in speech and writing in Swedish and English

It is an advantage if you have

  • Experience of statistical development within the public sector
  • Experience of working with register-based statistics, specifying logic to handle registrations in case management systems, and specifying requirements to data warehouse developers
  • Experience of working with quality assurance and documentation of statistics
  • Experience and good knowledge of the Swedish Migration Agency's mandate and operations
