Stockholm – our capital city with millions of dreams, expectations, and ambitions. We work for everyone who lives here today and in the future. We are now looking for you who want to think big, new, and differently with us – for the people of Stockholm.

The Social Services Administration in Stockholm City has an overarching and coordinating role for individual and family care within the social services, as well as for the disability services area. Here, we create good conditions for meeting residents in need of social services support. In close collaboration with the district administrations, we contribute to a modern, digital, legally secure, equal, and evidence-based social service with a strong focus on development. Within the administration, a wide range of support measures are offered to the city's residents, evolving based on the needs of Stockholmers and the requests of the district administrations. The work is often carried out in close cooperation with other authorities, civil society, and business. The Social Services Administration is also responsible for the city's catering and tobacco licenses and conducts supervision.

Do you want to help create a daily life that makes a real difference for young people? At HVB Almen, change happens in daily work through conversations, activities, and a secure structure.

Stockholm City's HVB Almen opened in August 2025 and is located on Djurgården. The facility offers eight places for boys aged 13–15 who are placed according to the Social Services Act (SoL) or the Act with Special Provisions on the Care of Young People (LVU).

The target group consists of boys with emerging substance abuse, emerging criminality, non-aggressive norm-breaking behavior, acting-out behavior, other social norm-breaking or destructive behavior, deficiencies in care, and other psychosocial problems.

The facility is designed in accordance with the government's guidelines for residential care (HVB) and corresponds to the target group that will be covered by general homes in the future.

The team consists of social workers, treatment assistants (night shift), an administrative assistant, group leaders, and unit managers.

Your role

As a social worker at HVB Almen, you are a central part of the young people's daily lives and work closely with them in a therapeutic role aimed at security, stability, and change. The foundation of the work is relationship-building; by building trust, you create conditions for treatment and development.

You conduct therapy sessions and work motivationally based on the young people's individual needs. A large part of your work involves being present and active in daily life. Through support in school, routines, leisure time, and relationships, you contribute to strengthening the young people's independence and development. These situations are an important part of the therapeutic work and provide opportunities to build relationships, practice skills, and strengthen the young people's self-esteem. The role also includes coordinating efforts together with parents, social services, schools, Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (BUP), and other key actors. Documentation and follow-up are a smaller part of the assignment and are used as support in the therapeutic work.

You will work according to a rotating schedule with shifts during days, evenings, and weekends.

Our working model

Work at HVB Almen is based on a clear therapeutic structure. Relationship-building is always the foundation, where trust between staff and young people creates conditions for change. Using an environmental therapeutic approach, we use daily life as an active part of the treatment.

The therapeutic work is CBT-oriented, focusing on understanding and changing thought patterns and behaviors. To increase the young people's motivation and participation, we use MI (Motivational Interviewing) as a conversation model. The entire facility is permeated by TMO (Trauma-Informed Care), where we always meet young people with knowledge about trauma, security, and stability.

Your competence and experience

We are looking for you who have:

  • A degree in Social Work
  • Experience working with social problems and challenging behavior
  • Good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written
  • Experience with documentation work

It is meritorious if you have:

  • Experience with residential care (HVB), therapeutic work, substance abuse work, or other similar activities deemed equivalent by the employer
  • Experience in social work involving motivational and supportive interventions
  • Experience with and knowledge of low-affective handling
  • Education in neuropsychiatry
  • Education in environmental therapy
  • Experience collaborating with Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (BUP)
  • Category B driver's license

To fit the role of social worker with us, we see that you are secure, stable, and have a strong commitment to young people. You are calm, empathetic, and understand what it means to meet people with a low-affective approach. At the same time, it is important that you are clear, can set boundaries, and are pedagogical, adapting your communication well to the young people, their families, and other actors. You have patience, are resilient, and see the value in long-term change work. Since the work is based on close collaboration with both colleagues and external actors, you also have good cooperation skills and are easy to build trusting relationships with.

We place great emphasis on your personal qualities, motivation, and commitment to the position.

Your application

We recruit without a cover letter in this recruitment to strengthen the focus on the competencies and experiences required for this role. In assessing your application, we will only base our evaluation on your CV and a number of questions you will answer when applying. We ask that you answer the questions concretely and concisely.

Interviews are conducted on an ongoing basis.

Before an employment contract is signed, you must provide an extract from the criminal record. In the event of a second employment interview, you must bring this extract to the meeting.

Stockholm City works with competence-based recruitment aimed at assessing each person's competence and thereby combating discrimination.
