Job Description
You will become part of a strong rock engineering network with approximately 200 colleagues in Sweden, Norway, Finland, Austria, Germany, Switzerland, and Canada.
In Sweden, we have offices from Malmö in the south to Kiruna in the north. We are approximately 100 engaged employees with specialist knowledge in engineering geology, rock mechanics, blasting technology, and bedrock geology. Our groups are involved in assignments ranging from mapping for roads and railways, modeling of mineral deposits, feasibility studies, and rock inspections for hydropower, field work, and detailed design of new infrastructure, as well as technical support during the construction phase for new residential projects.
We are currently looking for you who are an engineer or geologist with experience in rock mechanical calculations, field investigations, and investigations for rock construction to our region in the Southwest.
Common assignments for the group include the design of rock structures. Inspection and surveying of rock slopes and tunnels. Preliminary investigations and planning for new construction of housing, roads, and railways. With us, you will develop in the direction you are interested in, together with our senior colleagues within rock engineering, blasting technology, and description work.
If you become part of our larger infrastructure assignments, you will come into contact with our entire breadth within civil engineering, ranging from geotechnics, hydrogeology, bridges, and facilities to BIM and surveying technology.
The position may involve working on projects in other parts of Sweden or abroad. Travel in the service is a natural part of our work.
Aside from becoming part of our community and sharing our network's collective competence, we can offer everything from large, complex infrastructure projects within roads and railways with underground rock structures to local rock engineering inspections, construction management, and design. Our assignments are often varied, and in such cases, we work in cross-disciplinary teams in good collaboration with some of AFRY's other 18,000 engineering experts.
The location for the position is Gothenburg, but there may be an opportunity to base yourself from one of our other offices in the region.
Qualifications
We are looking for you who have worked with rock mechanics and rock engineering for 2–5 years and preferably have experience with calculations of geotechnical structures and design. You express yourself well in speech and writing, feel comfortable participating actively in technical discussions, and thrive in an environment characterized by collaboration and customer contact.
You should have a university or college degree with a focus on rock mechanics, engineering geology, or mining engineering, and be able to communicate fluently in both Swedish and English. It is an advantage if you have experience in geotechnics, geotechnical structures, tunnels, CAD skills, and if you have previously worked with technical descriptions and AB/ABT contracts.
A valid B-driver's license is required.
At AFRY, we see ourselves as brave and dedicated team players, something we hope you can also relate to!

Within AFRY, you will have the opportunity to participate in our national and international engineering network with knowledge exchange and business opportunities in exciting assignments, internal courses, and interesting lectures.
