We are not looking for someone who has all the answers. We are looking for the one who helps others find them.

Many people can handle case processing. Many can navigate legislation. Many can also lead teams. But we are looking for you who can do all of that and simultaneously help the people around you grow.

At the Foster Care Unit, the role is about much more than keeping processes together and ensuring quality. It is about being close to your colleagues when cases become difficult, helping them see the next step, and creating security in a job where decisions sometimes change a child's life. Therefore, it is important to both hold together and hold our colleagues and cases close.

Here, you will become an important part of a team working with foster care for children and young people. We believe in collaboration, lack of hierarchy, and that the best solutions are rarely created by one person alone.

We set high demands on quality. But we also believe that joy in work, humor, and a warm approach belong in the workplace.

Your Responsibilities

As a Senior Social Worker, you are the one who helps the operations stay on course when daily life is at its most intense.

You are close to the case handlers, supporting them in complex cases and contributing to the development of both people and working methods. Sometimes it is about law. Sometimes it is about structure. Often it is about asking the right questions rather than having all the answers.

Among other things, you will:

  • coach and support case handlers in the work with recruitment, investigation, matching, and supervision of foster homes
  • be a qualified support in complex cases and contribute with legal and social assessments
  • collaborate with colleagues, other senior social workers, and external actors to ensure the best interests of the child
  • participate in development work and continue to improve our working methods

You will join a work group with great experience and high competence, where we are happy to share knowledge, support each other, and celebrate successes together.

Your Experience

We believe you identify with the following:

  • You have a degree in social work or other relevant higher education.
  • You have experience with authority practice within social services, preferably with children and young people.
  • You feel confident in legislation and know how to apply it in practice.
  • You express yourself well in Swedish, both orally and in writing.
  • You have worked with foster care.

It is an extra merit if you have previously held a leadership or coaching role.

Who You Are

We are not looking for the one who always has the fastest answer.

We are looking for the one who makes others dare to think one step further.

You build trust without taking over. You give support without taking away others' responsibility. You dare to challenge when needed and encourage even more when needed.

You are structured, solution-oriented, and keep your head cool even when many questions need to be handled simultaneously.

And even though the mission is serious, you believe, just like us, that good collaboration often begins with a friendly approach and sometimes a really good laugh.

What We Offer

We believe that people develop best when they feel both security and trust. Therefore, here you will get:

  • a present manager who is available as support
  • knowledgeable and helpful colleagues
  • regular supervision and good opportunities for competence development
  • the opportunity to influence how the operations develop
  • a job where you see the results of what you do

And yes… the coffee is here too. But it is the people that make most choose to stay.

If you live elsewhere and are considering commuting to your new workplace, Halmstad has good train connections from the north, south, and east. Our premises are located in central Halmstad and are only a seven-minute walk from the central station.

Other Information

The position is a permanent placement in Halmstad. To facilitate the recruitment process, we ask you to submit your application digitally.

Interviews will be held on August 19.

We value the qualities that a balanced age and gender distribution, as well as ethnic and cultural diversity, bring to the operations, and therefore welcome applicants with different backgrounds and experiences.

Before employment, you must show that you have the right to work in Sweden according to current regulations. The position is filled on the condition that it is not taken by surplus personnel. Halmstad Municipality offers a fitness allowance and applies a smoke-free working time. We decline offers regarding advertising and recruitment assistance.

Curious?

Submit your application. We look forward to hearing from you and hope that the next colleague we meet is you.

The Social Services Administration works to provide support and help children, young people, families, and persons with disabilities or addiction problems. We also work with outreach and preventive measures. Fundamental to us is that we treat each other with respect – both our users and our employees.

When you work in Halmstad Municipality, you create meaning by shaping, strengthening, and enriching others' daily lives – whoever you are. Here, collaboration, balance, and the opportunity to develop, both as a professional and a human being, are important – we are the workplace where you get more out of life!
