SiS Youth Home Långanäs receives boys who are not subject to compulsory schooling and who have psychosocial problems, criminality, and substance abuse issues.

Job Description

This is your chance to influence students' futures and education in a creative and enabling school environment. SiS Youth Home (Långanäs School) is now looking for a driven and engaged Mathematics Teacher in combination with other subjects.

The school operations within SiS follow the same regulations as the rest of the school system. The school is responsible for the education of all enrolled young people. The young people residing at the youth home should receive the education they need and are entitled to. The placed young people are between 16 and 20 years old. Almost all teaching takes place within the framework of the introduction program; individual alternative, but there may also be students subject to compulsory schooling as well as students within the framework of adapted school.

All students have an individual study plan where they, together with a mentor and a study and career counselor, set goals and read basic school and/or upper secondary school common subjects based on their needs. Teaching is conducted full-time in small teaching groups.

A positive attitude and belief in each individual's development potential are important. The students have varying experiences and results from previous schooling, which means that teaching needs to be built on good pedagogical relationships, be motivating, and be carried out based on the knowledge mandate. You plan, conduct, follow up, and document the teaching and are well rooted in all parts of the curricula as well as in grading. The position may include mentorship.

At the institution, there are several complementary competencies, and as a teacher, you are part of a cross-professional and joint work regarding the young people. Collaboration with, for example, nurses, treatment pedagogues, and psychologists, etc., is therefore an important part of your duties. Many of us work together with care and have a holistic perspective regarding the young people.

Qualifications

• Licensed teacher in Mathematics in combination with other subjects for the later years of compulsory school and/or upper secondary school.
• You have the ability to plan, teach, and follow up on your teaching.
• You have experience in pedagogical work in a school environment.

• Documented special educational knowledge; insight into different diagnoses, experience working with young people in need of special support and institutional care.
• Previous work within the introduction program or work in special teaching groups.
• Proficiency in several languages.

You need to be attracted to teaching and building trusting pedagogical relationships in small teaching groups consisting of students with psychosocial problems and criminality. It is important that you can identify and meet the student's needs with high realistic expectations and motivate and lead the student towards their goals. We would like you to be calm in pressurized situations, unpretentious, flexible, able to set and maintain boundaries in a respectful way, and have faith that all students can find a path to education and work. You have good collaboration skills, high social competence, a positive view of students, and are proactive. You also understand the importance of adapting to changed circumstances and see the benefits of changes.

You participate in the development work to achieve the school's goals and always take responsibility for your tasks by planning, organizing, and prioritizing the work in an effective way. The work requires that you have good ability to express yourself orally and in writing and that you consider adapting communication depending on the recipient.

A B-class driver's license is required.

Employment:

The position is a permanent full-time position and begins with a six-month probationary period. The position is a holiday position with statutory holiday, which means a 40-hour work week. Start date according to agreement. Benefits according to the state collective agreement. Interviews and selection are ongoing. During the summer period, selection and feedback may take slightly longer.
