About Us

The Department of Otorhinolaryngology (ENT) at Sahlgrenska University Hospital (SU) is one of the largest ENT departments in the Nordic region. Here, we provide emergency and planned outpatient care, day surgery, and inpatient surgery. Specialist physicians and consultants at the department are divided into teams focusing on head and neck cancer/head and neck surgery, nasal and sinus surgery, fracture surgery, phoniatrics, scopy/laryngology, otology and otologic surgery, as well as hearing and balance disorders, pediatric ENT, rehabilitation, and habilitation. The main part of the operations takes place at SU/S, but day surgery is also performed to some extent at other sites. At Östra Sjukhuset, we have a smaller ENT clinic with consultancy services and pediatric ENT operations.

Research activities are conducted in several areas at the department, and we place great emphasis on education/continuing education and the development of operations.

Job Responsibilities

You will work with the investigation and treatment of ENT patients requiring specialized care in both emergency and planned operations. This includes working at the ENT clinic, inpatient wards, operating rooms, and participating in day and night on-call duties. Teaching less experienced colleagues, medical students, and healthcare staff is part of the job, and you are expected to actively participate in the department's development and change work as well as in research.

About You

We are looking for you who are a licensed specialist physician in Otorhinolaryngology who has or aspires to achieve high competence in ENT diseases. You should be interested in both your own development and contributing to the development of ENT care at one of the largest university hospitals in the Nordic region. We value good communication and collaboration skills. You can apply newly acquired knowledge in your clinical work, make well-founded clinical assessments, and thrive in a fast-paced work environment. We are looking for a driven and independent person with the ability and interest to take overall responsibility and put the patient's needs at the center. It is meritorious to have ongoing research and/or be a PhD holder.
