Description

At SkaS Skövde, inpatient internal medicine is concentrated across five different wards: Acute Care Ward (AVA), General Internal Medicine, Hematology, Pulmonology, and Stroke/Neurology. Gastroenterology patients are treated on the AVA/General Internal Medicine wards, which also host an extensive day-care unit. The wards are staffed by rotating ward doctors during the day and by resident on-call doctors at night. During weekends, ward rounds on the AVA are led by the on-call specialist, while other wards have physician check-ins with the weekend specialist on site. Medical back-up support is available 24/7 (staffed at night by a specialist in internal medicine).

We welcome you if you are positive, driven, flexible, structured, empathetic, and possess strong communication skills, as we aim to jointly develop and offer valuable care to our patients. You should have an interest in inpatient care and a focus on its quality and development.

Responsibilities

You are expected to independently manage internal medicine ward rounds on the aforementioned wards, with access to resident doctors. Proximity to subspecialized competence exists within each sub-specialty. If you hold a subspecialization or clinical focus, there are good opportunities to work more focused within this internal medicine area. Weekend work involving rotating ward rounds occurs. You are also expected to eventually participate in the on-call specialist roster and will receive support to reach this level.

Qualifications

Specialist competence in Internal Medicine. Subspecialization and research experience are meritorious. In the event of recruiting a doctor with foreign licensure/specialist certificate, the position will be preceded by a process to meet the requirements for Swedish licensure/specialist certificate.
