The position is located within the Education Administration, which is one of eight administrations in Linköping Municipality. Do you want to make a real difference in the daily lives of young people? As a counselor at Ljungsbro School and Resource School (grades 7–9), you will become an important part of the work to create a safe and supportive school environment. Here, you will work closely with students, engaged colleagues, and a multidisciplinary student health team where collaboration and the student's best interests are the focus.
Your responsibilities
As a counselor with us, you are a central part of our student health team (EHT). Your primary focus is to drive the psychosocial work forward – both health-promoting, preventive, and remedial. You will become a safe point for the junior high school students, an important support pillar for the teachers, and a bridge to external actors.
Your main responsibilities:
- Student support – Conduct support, motivation, and crisis talks with individual students or in groups.
- Collaboration – Work closely with the principal, special education teacher, and school nurse in the student health team, as well as support teachers in psychosocial matters.
- Preventive work – Lead projects regarding core values, network activities, mental health, and safety in school. Be an active part of our safety team, THT.
- External contacts – Collaborate with guardians, Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (BUP), social services, and other external actors.
Your workplace
Ljungsbro School and Resource School is a grades 7–9 school located in central Ljungsbro, just over 10 km from Linköping city center. Our vision is that through challenges, curiosity, and good relationships, we want to learn more. The school has just over 300 students in grades 7–9, as well as 18 students at the resource school. The school's approx. 50 employees are constantly working to develop teaching to maximize student learning. The student's best interest is always in focus, and the operations are characterized by commitment, creativity, dynamism, and joy.
As an employee with us, you get helpful colleagues who go the extra mile to enjoy working together; for example, we had a joint Lucia breakfast. Our strong collaboration is enabled through clear structures and forums where colleagues meet. Among other things, we have a joint conference once a month where the whole school meets to address common issues, as well as a collaboration time in everyone's calendars once a week. We have a trusting environment where you are encouraged to try new things and find your way in your professional role, regardless of whether you have experience or are new to the role.
The school has a well-developed student health team, and we are a mobile-phone-free school during the entire school day.
You who apply
We are looking for you who have a degree in social work or another education that the employer deems equivalent. You have good experience working as a school counselor, working with junior high school students, and good knowledge of the psychosocial aspects that can arise during the teenage years. You have good knowledge of Swedish and express yourself well in speech and writing.
You have experience with student health work and knowledge of current legislation. You have experience talking with children, such as support, motivation, and crisis talks.
Your personal skills:
- Relationship-building & Secure – You have personal maturity and a keen sensitivity that allows you to quickly build trust with both young people, colleagues, and guardians. You are secure in conversations with young people and have a professional and respectful approach.
- Independent & Initiative-taking – You are secure in your professional role, can structure your own work, and do not hesitate to initiate preventive measures. You have good collaboration skills and enjoy working in multidisciplinary teams. You collaborate with guardians and external actors.
- Communicative & Flexible – You have a solution-focused approach (easily adapt when the school day does not go as planned) and a strong commitment to the development and well-being of children and young people.
